Yes and No. TKD has zero principles of wrestling. But, any athletic background is a positive. Judo experience would be the best.

The agility in TKD and the fact that if you are not just learning forms but actually learning some of the body movement concepts in TKD would give you an advantage in Korean wrestling. Since it is mostly a game of body movement and agility. You can even see most of the time Bomi was in a right stance which gave her more of a sure footin while Chan mi was more squared up to bomi giving bomi more leverage in the match. At least for the women comp. The men comp I would agree with your assessment.
