Nornally, the music skills that you learned in the past sticks in your memory, and your body quickly readjusts and remembers those skills that you acquired for many years. And this is surprising, but true, most partcularly in my case. I learned to play the guitar (plus another instrument) when I was in 3rd grade, besides being active in a local church choir. I played those instruments regularly for three years until finished grade 6. I proceeded to high school in another city, and became very busy with academics and school activities that I set aside playing the guitar for around 3 years. On my final year in high school, I was requested to do the guitar accompaninent (and sing) for the students choir for a big fundraising activity. I was tempted to shirk, avoid and reason out that I hadn't played the instrument for the past three years, yet when I obliged and held the guitar and started to play the chords, I was amazed at how everything seemed familiar and easy! My body had owned and automatically remembered the musical skills that I learned in grade school!

Was anyone else kind of grateful when he sucked at trumpet? I mean he's incredible and it would have been unfair if he was good at that too! I started playing trumpet at 7 years old and am decent but his violin skills blow me out of the water but had he been good at trumpet too I might have had to go jump off a cliff or something.

Considering he was able to play the sax with his first attempt and telling them they never learned to play it before, then I am sure he can play the trumpet too. As someone which played harp and percussion since 7 years old, saxophone 5 years ago and learnt trumpet from my orchestra friends. I find this video extremely entertaining. Im surprised that Henry had a relatively good correct embouchure for saxophone and knew to buzz when playing the trumpet (im not really good at trumpet). His snare hold was a bit off and too loose to roll with but its very supposing for someone which doesnt play these instruments to produce a pretty decent sound (ignoring tone).

The mass of random notes Henry played when he picked up the sax is exactly what I sound like with a violin, I play the cello, so it's transferable to any other string instrument, you just play around and figure out where the notes are first😊

I play guitar and I could figure out the some keys on the violin cause they were quite familiar but was more confusing cause there weren’t any frets. And also piano, simple songs like twinkle little star can be played on ther instruments if you have know to play one instrument. It’s just a matter of figuring out the notes.

It is impossible for someone who has not been taught how to blow into a trumpet or saxophone to make a sound on the first try. The techniques are very specific and no matter how much of a "genius" you are you can¨t do it. This is literally impossible. I get that the saxophone was similar to the recorder but the trumpet cant be explained. When playing the trumpet you need to do really specific things with your breathing and lips for sound to be produced.

George Pantzikis he didn’t said that he never played it before. i’m sure he has blown in one before but he said he never learned how to play the instrument as in getting lessons. and it isn’t impossible. i’ve been in a school band and i was able to make a sound with my trumpet the first time i blowed into it.

If you watch Henry from the beginning of his career you’ll notice his violin skills went down as his popularity went up. Which makes sense since he is very active in China and Korea and when he was with SM they were farming him out constantly all over Asia as a stand in when sj-m wasn’t promoting. He also composes and produces. To be good you need to practice constantly and he has had less and less time to do it. He also knows when he screws up and has said multiple times he isn’t a genius but no one listens, I think he just rolls with anymore. Where he is a genius is figuring out how to play a musical instrument in about 5 min, he’s done that with a few complicated instruments.

To be honest, if you were in band for at least all four years of high school, even without physically playing other instruments, you'd be able to hold a note/melody or rhthym. I am a percussionist and did the exact same thing in high school. I tried out my friend's instruments and was able to play a tune. Henry, however, is pretty musically gifted by how quick he can learn an instrument and how many he already knows how to play.
