Please check out the original song too! 🙏 The girl duo is called Nylon Beat, and the original song (1996) is Rakastuin Mä Looseriin! It's here and on Sp0tify. They also made their own English version Like A Fool in 1998. In the Spotify credits of the Aespa version you can see the Finnish guy's name! Yes, it's a very beautiful melody! It was a very popular hit at the time in Finland, and pretty much everyone who was alive at the time knows it and I think we kids of that time are nostalgic for it bc of the beauty, and the lyrics have a nice message (different from the other versions)

Yes there are indeed new elements in the Korean version - I kind of actually prefer it. The lyrics are totally different - the Finnish name of the song translates to "I fell in love with a loser" so totally different ;) BTW despite its name it is a 'positive' song - how you don't actually require to find a 'winner' to find true love. Or something like that - it is very poppy and deliberately silly. BTW2 Nylon Beat made their own English language version as well - once again with totally different lyrics to either of the other two.

It’s funny how I started liking Kpop from 3rd generation, and now aespa is taking me back to 1st generation with the remake of ‘Dreams Come True.’ BoA did a fantastic job with this song. Like adding that hip hop verse was genius imo. Also how BoA made subtle changes to everything, but managed to give it that fresh vibe but also the 90s feel to it.
