I always liked the baltimore metro and its cars. Gonna miss them when they finally get retired. I like Baltimore because it reminds me a lot like Philly where I grew up.

Another subway that's on my bucket list. Nice video, as always. ;)

I'm here from the future, four years and six-car-trains later and we still have the Budds. I still have yet to see any vibrat---Hitachi cars in the yard (which is good TBH). Also, I agree with most of the comments. BaltimoreLink was an excuse to cut most service. Some lines got more service, some lines were consolidated, but a lot of the routes in the outskirts got cut massively.

Also... trains are back to 4 cars since there's no more social distancing on the trains. idk how long that will last though.

As MANY times I’ve been to Baltimore, I never rode their subway system yet. Gotta put it on my bucket list.😊

Please do! It's fast and it's very sleek but underfanned.

Where could they expand this? Out east is the only real option.
@CaseysTrains3 жыл бұрын
Either Morgan State, White Marsh or Reisterstown Township. Those are the only 3 options. Reisterstown is easy since you just need to extend the current line down the highway median. Morgan State or White Marsh on the other hand....

I've lived in Baltimore all my life and have never filmed the metro lol
@CaseysTrains7 жыл бұрын
If you get a chance, do so asap before they rebrand the system. Apparently, they might not repaint the railcars, but the stations will receive the rebranding.
@JBtrainman7 жыл бұрын
Nicholette Casey I live 5 mins away from the metro so I can do that easily. They've also started rebranding the Light Rail in the ugly red and yellow color scheme
@kesschristopher7 жыл бұрын
JBtrainman I loathe the BaltimoreLink color scheme.

Chris K I hate the BaltimoreLink program with a passion. It's discontinuing over a dozen busses that thousands of people use to get to work and school without replacing the routes

JBtrainman It's also a poor consolation for canceling the Red Line.

Are they gonna remove the bells on the wall that signals the passengers when the subway is coming?

miami used to have the same cars until 2017
@CaseysTrains3 жыл бұрын
Yup, was there in 2015. By the way the last in-service Miami Budd actually ran Jan 2021. My Ex works for MDT and lives near Dadeland Station, pretty much documents every single freggin train that rolls past his window and got the last set in service. A few Budds are now used as Inspection and Trash Transport Cars.

So why are a lot of the small cities got the subways when a barely have any people living there?
@CaseysTrains5 жыл бұрын
The same exact reason why Miami Metrorail exists in its limited form. Listen. I'm not gunna explain why each and every city is running a train for select people espeically considering both Miami and Baltimore train have standing crowds at rush hour. Just crack open a wikipedia window and start looking cuz that's how I got the information for most of my videos. By the way the whole "Modern Metro" thing stemmed from BART in the 60s and DC in the 70s. Many other tried to replicate that success in the 80s but just never was successful in doing so. Instead of asking why and criticizing the cities who built them just be thankful they exist even in their limited form. Some cities dont have that that luxury.
@CaseysTrains5 жыл бұрын
And people need to understand. One line that goes nowhere today can be 10 line that connect the whole city tomorrow. Look at Vancouver. Toronto, Hell even LA. Time will tell all
@dmann30420005 жыл бұрын
Much thanks for the wonderful reply just curious I'm from the City of Chicago which is basically like New York City older and much bigger a lot of these modern metropolitan areas seem to have something when it comes to modernism in developing but I wish cities like Houston or Jacksonville Florida which are much bigger adopt these transportation methods

Basically making the name longer?
@CaseysTrains6 жыл бұрын
Yes but it was part of the citywide rebranding and apparently the colors of the signs in the stations changed to match the City Link Buses. They were going to paint the cars red and gold but they instead bought identical Hitachi Cars to the Miami Fleet. So not only is history repeating itself by having the same car for both cities, the new Hitachi cars will have the Gold and Red Subway Link scheme.

PLEASE EXPAND THIS. Baltimore might not be very desirable now but in the future with climate change basically making the Deep South uninhabitable and everyone moving back up north to cities like Baltimore we will need all of the transit we can get.
