Citroen ID DS Dsuper cold start

Cold start in the rain of my recent purchased Citroen DS
(traded in my Citroen bx TRD turbo)

Thank you for sharing ! In France this car is the best in the history . Unfortunately, my parents didn't drove Citroen in the 70's, but one of my Mum's friend was driving one: she was a beautiful mature woman with high heels and nice perfume. Because she was a teacher in my school, I often requested to be driven by her ........

Ooit aan mogen werken in Amstelveen. Mijn oude baas had er een paar, prachtige auto, zat heerlijk, maar wat een hel om aan te werken. Moest het linker achterwiellager vervangen. Man man haha. Kan me nog herinneren dat de hele bodem vlak was ivm aerodynamica

de eerste ds die ik kocht was in 1972 een ds 21 super in 1975 ingeruild voor een 23 pallas injection heb vandaag de dag nog steeds spijt dat ik he m ooit heb weggedaan nog veel auto,s ford volvo simca peugeot volks wagen en mercedes gehad en een amerikaanse uitvoering van datsun halen het niet bij de ds zo zonde dat hij niet meer wordt gemaakt mocht het ooit gebeuren koop hem direct en met mij ontelbaar vele anderen,was her maar waar.

Ik heb nu een 1974 DSuper geërfd van mijn vader en die staat al 2 jaar koud, vandaag geprobeerd te starten met vrij weinig kennis van van deze oude rakker, nog niet aan de praat gekregen. Met de gebruiksaanwijzing erbij wat pogingen gewaagd maar nog geen succes. Tips voor het starten van een ds die al tijdje stil staat?

I had a 72 DSpecial. I am not remembering a little switch under the steering column to start it. Am I losing my mind?

No, because you must have an automatic (semi), this is a manual...

X VG39 Wrong. A DSpecial is what Citroen called what has been the ID in the latter years. Mine was a 4 speed manual with a traditional brake pedal.

This is not a DS nor an ID. It´s a D Super. It looks like Pallas trims on the inside of the doors, but it is not a genuine Pallas, what I can see.... The central STOP-light is out of order!

Absolutely correct. BTW This car takes far too long to rise. Could be pump is worn out or there is a problem with pressure regulator.

Leon Sumter not necessarily: Of it had been depressurized on the lowest setting, that’s about right for raising up the car. It actively rose at the correct speed.

Yes, because the hydraulic pump works with the engine. More the engine works, more the pump works.

The hydraulic compressor was operated by the services belt, so it went faster when the engine was accelerated, the pulley featured an electromagnetic clutch that cyclically decoupled the compressor when the pressure was ok (like an air conditioner compressor) producing the iconic click noise ;-D
