In the Kikuyu culture once you're married to other tribes (ndúrírí) the person is considered lost...... having followed this story there are many gaps that lead to such occurrence.....ie the guy hasn't paid dowery yet he gets the privilege to take the kid.......when the lady took poison he watched it and never bothered to take his wife to hospital....the grandmother's marriage never matured who's namesake to the deceased.....
