@@cp2342 a lot of the old characters barely had scenes together. Carl and Glenn had one convo on screen back in season 3 and then had 0 interaction up to Glenn’s death. Carol and Carl only had a few scenes in the earlier seasons and their last convo on screen was when the wolves invaded Alexandria and all she said to him was to stay in the house and make sure Judith was safe and that was it.

sam p yes! I think that both Daryl and Carol are the most developed characters throughout the entire show. Ricks change is extremely noticeable and he has always reverted back to the character he was before in a way, but the people who Carol and Daryl where before in the earlier seasons, all they’ve kept the same are their names. For as much as I love twd even through the shows flaws and faults, you can’t deny the progression of characters.

She doesnt panic anymore and just gets in with it. Daryl went from a horrible selfish person into part of a family. He would now do anything for them which includes dying. Both have changed for the better and by a huge amount.

I could add on and talk for hours about the character progression in the show but we'd be here all day but Carol and Daryls growth are by far the best. And I mean I liked Rick's progression because he made so many mistakes and reverted back to an old version of him but he never bored me in a way. In my opinion, the way I see a good written character with depth and progression is when you could be convinced that they could be the villain of the story. One of the reasons I like Negan as he's the other way around.

Jay Parmo i never said his plan was good. Although from his point of view it made sense. The saviors hated him. they even said he was first on the batting line up. Unluckily jared the piece of sht who got what he deserved shot ben instead. Richards motivations were pure his execution was poor. If you think about it him and daryl did the exact same thing. Both made an action they thought they needed to that unintentionally costed anothers life. Neither are bad people and defz dont deserve to be "fed to walkers".

@@willabyte8976 It basically is. I kinda put it into 4 parts really. Season 1-2 is practically the intro to the story. Then part 2 is season 3 to 5 before Alexandria. Part 3 is from season 5 at Alexandria to season 9 before Rick left. And the fourth and final part is season 9 to season 11. That's just what it feels like. But really yeah, it practically is 2 parts because you can kinda just take off from season 9 without watching the rest. Yeah you might miss stuff like what Negan did, why Maggie hates Negan, and where everyone came from. But it works.

@Tom Tom If you think season 7's writing is better, you're just blind. Half of the episodes that season could have been combined. There is no reason why episodes like "The Cell" and "The Well" should be their owen episode. Same with the Tara episode, the Eugene episode and many more. I'm not one to call things "filler" but they really didn't need to stretch it like that. Season 8 improved a bit, even though there are a few episodes just about characters traveling from community to another community. Season 9 had a fresh start. The characters are better written and have actual roles beyond just being soldiers. Characters like Daryl, Rosita, Eugene, Tara and others were so unlikeable for some people and they made them so much better. They made Daryl actually speak full sentences, Rosita isn't such a bitch anymore to everyone, they stopped the whole "Cowardly Eugene" stuff and made him able to stand on his own. Tara actually had something to do in S9. Aaron and Gabriel I believe has had the most improvement. Negan has turned into a lovable and trusting character. Don't even get me started on Judith. She's such a great addition and the actress his doing great. The show even lost its main character and it's still kicking. The Whisperers are so much more interesting than just soldiers that appear to be good but are just fodder. Alpha and Beta are intimidating versus Negan who is just funny. Are 9 and 10 perfect? No. I wish they did more with Jesus. They could've written off Maggie better. But the episodes are so much better paced than before. No more episodes on a single character. No more pointless gunfights. The supporting cast like Siddiq, Alden, Jerry, Yumiko, and Connie are becoming and have becoming fan favorites. And they aren't just THERE kinda like Jesus, Tara, Aaron, and Enid in seasons 7/8.

@@Gunner4477 Actually that is not what started the conflict, Negan wasn't even aware that it was Rick's people who killed those Saviors on the road until Season 7 Episode 4. After Daryl blew them up, there was no conflict with the Saviors until Rick and company slaughtered a whole outpost in exchange for food from the hilltop, which started the conflict.

Can I just say, when I first watched the episode when it aired, I screamed, yelled and cried at Glenn’s death. It wasn’t till I rewatched it later in life, that I did the same thing for aberham. He was such an incredible character, and now that I’m older I can look past just the originals and accept the few greats as walking dead legends. ❤
