I don’t believe troy or anyone chooses who is in the room, it’s first come first serve. He might just have better internet than other players or he’s just ready to join before the others. Troy has said in the past that maybe the hardest part about the knockout series is just getting into the rooms. Home depot just got lucky.

The mod he is playing (which includes this knockout mode) is CTGP and is only available on Wii/Wii U for online play. In other videos he also uses another mod called Retro Rewind which is Wii/U or dolphin emulator on pc. Retro rewind is super easy to get on pc via wheel wizard application. Check it out!
