I think this theory doesn't make sense. 1) his daughter didn't recognized Baek Yi jin's photo, 2) his name was always Baek Yi Jin as confirmed by teachers he greeted him, when Heedo was looking through the year book photos, and also records of cassette tapes. This drama is about personal growth whether it's friendship, love, success, achievement etc etc. I think it's best to assume everyone grew up and did their own things. I think that's going to be the ending which is realistic enough.

I mean, when I was a teenager I saw a photo of my dad and didn't realise it was him. In that photo he was in his 20's, so I don't think it's weird that Min Chae can't recognize him in the photo.... And, maybe his surname was Baek when he enter school, so the teachers never knew his real surname, I mean, why would they know? And even if they knew he was adopted and changed his surname, I don't think it's something you say normally to a student.

Let me debunk the second one you mentioned. Yi jin entered high school 7-8 years ago. That means his name can be changed before entering high school if he was adopted 10 years ago. The first one may be they excluded Min Chae line saying that she recognized her father somehow I guess. Anyway, I will accept the ending in every circumstance. I will rather focus on the reason why it is ended like that. I love this drama so much.

Ammm this is my theory ... Maybe Yi jin and Hee do are together and they are Min chae's parents, maybe the last name will be explained later and the fact that he is adopted fits perfectly (Yi jin's mother's last name is Kim, maybe that's why he changed it and that's why his daughter has it).... As for why he is not present is because he became an international correspondent and with the virus he must maintain quarantine every time he returns to the country, so he still does not visit his daughter, and thus justify why Hee do's mother says she sees him at the station and she does not react because she knows it (in the end she should know when her husband returns). As for Hee do's memory loss I read a theory that she indeed has selective memory loss and it's due to the loss of a squad member and that member is seung Wang (remember what she says to Yi jin on the beach, maybe she suffers from depression and it has serious consequences 😭💔) that's why Hee do can't remember that particular trip because it hurts her and she has hidden all her photos and hence Min che doesn't recognize her father as a young man because he changed his name and never saw one of his photos before . .. So much for my report and my wishes for a Happy ending💕

Yi Jin definitely is still alive because when he interviewed the referee, which he later admitted was because of Hee Do, he was yelled at by his senior and even Hee Do’s mother for being too close to the subject. This could be a foreshadow as to why they separated because as both successful, well-known people in the public eye, this could create a toll on their dreams and future. Wanting the best for each other like always, they go their separate ways, so Yi Jin is abroad working as either a news reporter or NASA engineer but he must be abroad. As for the adoption theories, it does make a lot of sense that Yi Jin’s last name is not Baek. He has to be Min Chae’s father.

I don't think the adoption theory works. In the high school scenes, seungwan refers to him as baek yijin, not kim yijin. Also, It might be that yijin's father was creating a shell company under his younger son's name because his son wouldnt be culpable in case this bad news comes to light (since he's a minor, it isn't his fault) - whereas if he put it under yijin's name he might have been old enough to be held accountable already.

Don't you guys think that Hee Do's daughter has more resemblance with Yu Rim. She doesn't look like ye jin or hee do. I don’t think Min Chae is Yi Jin’s daughter. She didn’t recognise him and Heedo was talking about her father, how he was having difficulty due to Covid restrictions. Whatever happened when they were 25-21, maybe that caused Heedo’s memory loss 🤷🏽‍♀️

the mystery is killing me but I'm sure if be worth all the waiting! i noticed two things which made me realise that they would not end up together. 1. when heedo and her mother were talking while looking at some old photos , heedo's mother mentioned that she recently met him. it means he's still safe and sound just not in heedo's life apparently. 2. yijin congratulated heedo on her wedding while interviewing her on tv in recent episode. so it has confused me even more. May be they'll show another kind of happy ending which includes them getting back together in later life.

I was wondering why no one is talking about this...maybe she does not have dementia or any trauma...she is just avoiding talking about that trip with her daughter as her mother did the same to cope up with her loss because she did not get curious over photos and she clearly remembers Baek-yi-jin, her mother told her about meeting him. The statement "nothing is forever, everything is momentary", while saying that Na-hee-do did not express grief, she said that with emotion of things change, that is life. PS:- I am emotionally ready for any heartbreaking story director shows, still I want them to end up together. The chemistry is too good. This is #1 chemistry between main characters for me surpassing Descendants of the Sun, mihane joonki oppa😆.

I think that might just be from fencing, because bruises are really common in a sport like that. Also, Baek Yi-Jin didn't seem super alarmed, he was worried but it looked like he understood it happens a lot. If it had been from something else he'd probably ask or would've been more worried.

Remember that his parents get divorced because of his father's debt. In Korean law, the wife/husband and the children will inherit the fathers/wife's debt

I believe they are married in the future and given the pandemic and Hee Do's history of her Mother putting the news first that might cause a issue of him then being separated from them during quarantine and given if he is adopted they might have adopted a child as well who knows.

These theories are far fetched. He is in Korea as the grandmother told the daughter. I saw Yi Jin yesterday. So possibly same area as the old house. He is not adopted but when the bankruptcy happened the father had to disperse the assets to different family members.The paper divorce, the business in the name of a MINOR so he cannot get sued. So Yi Jin is an adult and could have no assets or he would get sued for all his father's debts. Yi Jin's Aunt had gotten the car ( on paper) so that it would not be sold off for debt. Hence she could 'lend' it to Yi Jin all the time. Greatest consolation means greatest comfort ie to console. They will grow together and fall out of love, but always a meaningful love. Heedo and Yi Jin will break up twice. She moves on to have her child with a man who may or maynot be married to her still. He is a secondary story line. The daughter's last name is not BAEK.

Well I have had different theories in mind about minchae's father- Well 1) I think minchae is not actually heedo's daughter, minchae might be adopted. Well adopted means I theorized that minchae is yurim's and jiwoong's daughter amd because yurim and jiwoong might hv died, amd yurim asked heedo to raise her up ,so she did it. 2) I think minchae's dad who sent her gifts..could be baek yijin, but again as we see that Minchae saw the group photo of her mother's friends together( baek yijin was there in the photo) but she didn't recognize him so he is not the dad. That's why, i thought it this way, according to *no.1*, that only yurim died, so jiwoong is the dad she might be referring, jiwoong and heedo are raising minchae, heedo pretending to her mother(?)
