There I sat hugging my knees from side stage, shielding myself from the cold bite of the air, listening intently to Tyler's voice. There was a slight rasp intertwined within his singing words that gave sound to a comforting sense of rawness. He was tired. Dishearteningly, the gig had been cancelled due to storms in the area. Naturally, the guys had ben upset and felt that they had somehow let down fans looking forward to the show. Tyler took to joining his piano alone on stage where he could play and listen to the rain, knowing not that he was joined by someone else. I stayed hunkered down from behind the corner so as not to disturb the boy. He somehow played still with just as much conviction to mere droplets of water sprinkling down as he would in front of a crowd of devoted fans. I could taste the brink of a brittle chill that pierced the air, and it made me miss the warmth of home. Out of habit, I placed the pad of my thumb between my teeth and stared off blankly, enveloped in the friendly lonesomeness of Tyler's singing. It wasn't long before Josh had come searching, eventually spotting and joining me from side stage. "Hey," he said, crossing his legs on the floor beside me. His voice was low and reverent to my quiet moment, somehow aware of Tyler's unawareness of his company. Hey," I breathed, looking up. "I figured you'd come find me. He doesn't know I've been listening. I kind of like to watch him sing when he's playing just for himself." "You're not the first," he smiled. "It's... different, but somehow the same. As if performing for fans, I mean. There's just as much to it as that 17 year old doodling lyrics in his basement before all this," I mused. I can hear them arguing again over worthless points trying to be proven. Let me escape, don't hold me here of all places. I can't leave no matter how many ways there are, it's wasteful of my energy to keep trying. There's only one way, the only way is to leave. Leave this world, no one will notice, they can only hear my tears streaming outside. They will only be able to pair my imperfections with the thunder outside. They can only have my quick one second memories of the bright summer sun, but they too will end in an instant. This storm will be my last moment, my last relation to life. I wish I would have found this yesterday. Yesterday I had a mental breakdown and was sobbing in my room wanting to scream so loudly. I was so close to getting up and just getting pills and taking too many. Luckily, I got tix to see them in June so just little reminders like that make me want to live. Tyler sits by his piano, staring at the downpour outside the venue. He hoped the fans were okay getting home after their show. His hands drift over the keys, playing out a tune before his brain can register which one. He then recognizes the tune, and old one, which brought back memories. He starts singing the familiar lyrics, the words that he wrote so long ago. He gives a start as Josh walks on the stage, but then keeps playing as he gets on his drums. The empty arena echoes his voice, his piano, Josh's drums. He enjoys the added percussion the thunder and rain makes. He starts to think less of the words, less of the piano, and just lets his thoughts wander as he plays his song. Thinking of all of the other people that might be listening to this song and relating to what he deals with. it's actually super easy!! i made mine in iMovie but any video/audio editing software will do. then you just download whatever song you want to use (in this case i used the youtube to mp3 converter online) and then look up rain on youtube until you find the one you like and download that too! then in iMovie or whatever you're using you can make it however loud you want and add in additional sound effects like thunder, etc :)
