essentially tyler is having to feed his creativity, which has taken the form of this creature called ned. but his creativity relies on a large quantity of negative emotions. it cleanses and helps the creature survive but hurts tyler. the creature grows while he decays, it grows it's horns completely. but then, in the end after emptying an entire pool the creature is hungry for more, it's an endless cycle to create music for tyler. throughout the music video tyler is clearly deep in the creative process since he’s wearing headphones and closed off from everyone and putting a huge workload on his friend josh to help handle his emotional weight.

My kids have this on repeat Aug 2024, along with Clancy. They're 5 and 7 and both want to be Clamcy for Halloween. I cant figure out how or when i can explain to them that ive struggled with depression and anxiety and suicidal ideation since I was 9 years old. I've been listening to TØP for years, ever since i hear Car Radio it literally stopped me from ending my life in 2016 after my husband died of an intentional overdose. My boys are young and my biggest fear and reason i dodnt think i wanted kids, i never want them to know this paon and if they can see at an esrly age there's no shame in asking for help, there's nothing weak about addressing mental illness. Thank you so much Tyler and Josh. Maybe one day I can take my kids to see them live, that would be a dream come true for all of us!

Hey, stay strong. Approaching kids with one's own depression is difficult, because then it might pass down to them, too. The kids _might_ start feeling helpless, and _might_ start to seek comfort from someone else. It's not really wrong to seek comfort from a stronger (not stronger in the sense of forcible) and more self-confident personality. It's just that the family connection has a risk of degrading a little. At least this is how I'd experienced it as a kid. It's okay not to smile all the time, and it's okay to listen to sad music. And to tell your kids, that you like sad music. Consider telling your kids about depression when they're teenagers or young adults; they're more mature then, and are able to grasp the concept better. Alternately, seek out a good therapist, and ask him/her about if, when, and how to broach the topic with small children (if at all). A psychologist is licensed to prescribe anti-depressants. I know someone who was helped by these, but one should keep to the regimen - there may be risks when overdosing, or when skipping. Sometimes, a medicine does not work, or has side effects. In such cases, a medical professional should be informed of either condition. That way, he/she can suggest different treatment. I am not a professional in this field, so, anything to do with medications should be left for professionals to advise about and prescribe. If therapy is expensive, research advice online from reputable sources. Look for videos about guided meditation and ASMR. The artists are different, and maybe you will find one or more people you'll like. See if you can sleep well every night - at least eight hours per each 24-hour period. Avoid smoking, vaping, alcohol, and recreational drugs. Check in your abode if there's mould, which should be removed by a pro (not cheap). Edit: There are some stop-gap measures that can be done using home chemicals, using protective gear for hands and eyes at the very least; information about these are available online. Look for foods that have been proven to mitigate depression a bit, and which of the foods might have substances that can add to depression (so as to remove those from your diet). Nutritionists usually recommend less processed food, and more fruit and vegetables. Have an extensive allergy test to find if there may be foods or chemicals that you may be sensitive to. Edit: Even simple home and office chemicals can contain allergens, such as cleaning stuff and air fresheners. There are alternatives without allergenic substances.

I agree completely. This song, matched with Morph, are undoubtedly the most popular from Trench. Personally this one is by far my favorite. But... they don't play this one live. Maybe Ned is an imaginary friend from Tyler's childhood. Tyler feels bad for neglecting his childhood friend and wants to make mends with him. The chlorine pool obviously has a connection to Ned. Maybe it's where he lived in Tyler's world. In the cup maybe it's full of straight chlorine. When Tyler drinks it he has these hallucinations of Ned. Maybe it's like a drug relapse. Tyler feels bad for letting this creature go and he wants him back. I know that this is a year old. But I have a theory. Tyler has stated few times how hard it was to feel inspired to make new music. So I think the monster is a symbol of his creativity/inspiration. “The beat is a chemical, sipping on straight chlorine “ surrounding himself and listening to music trying to find his muse. The pressure he felt he was under must have been overwhelming. That pressure would create that love/ hate relationship, I mean drinking chlorine isn’t enjoyable or healthy, but like always it’s about mental health. How does that line go?
