The Hype is off of their Trench album, the one after Blurryface, which was very successful in the "charts" with Ride and Stressed Out. This is basically them saying "we know you'll (their fans) still be here, when the hype dies down." I really enjoyed your reaction to this, and I agree, it's hard to focus on the video and lyrics because there's just so much going on!

Yes, this was filmed with Twenty One Pilots' fans (lucky them). The song's lyrics are direct, but the video is once again filled with Easter eggs. The video opens with Tyler opening a screen on his chest (note; the song "Screen" from the album Vessel. you did see Ned in a fan's ams. The guys are playing in a house and drinking a Capri Sun at the end like in "Stressed Out." Notice the yellow tape to hold up the picture at the end like the Banditos wear. There is also the flannel that the guys (and some fans wear) that I'm not positive about, but I think it was about the fans copying the flannel and wearing it, too. You'll notice they wear the flannel as they "rise" to stardom (and the roof), but when it all comes crashing down, they take off the flannel. As usual, a great song with a video loaded with more meaning and symbols that pay homage to the past -- the Hype.

This song is such an underrated banger! Tyler wrote it from the perspective of his younger self, talking to his more jaded current self, and the whole message of "You know you're a terrible sight, but you'll be just fine" just hits me directly in the chest every time. I know it's helped me a lot on rough days, for sure. And I'm pretty sure there are references to their very earliest days too, as well as the nod to Stressed Out, where they're drinking the Capri Sun together at the end. No matter how big your career gets, you can't forget where you came from!

Agree-this is probably my fav TOP song, exactly because of the line, “and you know you’re a terrible sight, but you’ll be just fine.” I found TOP and this song at a very difficult time in my life, wondering if I’d ever get through it, being the hot mess I was. This song was (and is) like a long, heartfelt hug.

I've heard TØP's genre described as "Schizophrenic Pop" because of how often they switch up combined with the mental health aspect of their lyrical content.

The falling describe the hiatus( the time between blurryface and trench) they didnt do anything at that time. Some fake fans left the clique at that time. Number of people decrease again in the video.

this was filmed with twenty one pilots fans who won a raffle after their shows in Columbus - this was filmed the next day after their last Columbus show

I love watching these videos and seeing all the memorabilia they saved and brought as an exhibit to the Clancy tour. Seeing the outfit Tyler wore in this up close was so surreal. Loved your reaction.
