Glitching Shadow Knife-Hand, in addition to being a decent name for a synth-heavy death metal band, is both the worst thing you could find in an abandoned clock tower and, somehow, the most appropriate monster to find there. It's like a 1980s FMV video game has ambushed the party! The Rogue walks into the first ambush, as is standard procedure in any degree of dungeon crawling; but the Fighter manages to be close at hand just when she's needed most. I'm loving the way that Jace keeps pushing everyone to see the bright side of forming the party, while the others are still disinterested or obstinately against it. He's going to build a party if he has to carry them across the land in a push cart! That's Halfling optimism at work! There's something so recognizably true about the moment when Lucia's player realized that she and Dail could connect over the sword's lore. Maybe Jace will only have to be pushing Holden's participation soon. Or maybe something's about to decide the matter for everyone . . .

@@twentysidespodcast Something else that's fun to note, having seen three episodes now: Holden, the character, isn't really interested in joining a group -- he got dragged along by the halfling's enthusiasm. Holden's player, though, is actively keeping him involved while the character protests. There's probably some underlying personality traits to Holden that are making him vulnerable to Jace's manipulation -- loneliness, most likely -- but the thing I'm learning here is how to _play_ a loner without actually fighting against the flow of the game.Holden (much like Lucia early on) isn't invested, yet he's still fully contributing to the adventure.
