We all have experienced what Russian aggression is costing us, and we should not allow it in the future. The only way to democratize Russia is to make the Russians starve , lived like in the DPRK, and then in 10 years Russia will rot and fall apart, like the USSR. Nemtsov was the last Russian oppositionist who commanded respect and was not a hidden Nazi, less than 0.5% of the population of Moscow took part in the Nemtsov march against the war with Ukraine in 2015, then the government did not imprison or beat anyone for rallies, and it still came out only 50 thousand, less than 0.5%. and when Nemtsov was killed, the Russian people did nothing. In ukraine the same language as in russia, youtube is not disabled for russians, there are a lot of ukrainian russian-language channels on youtube, with information about the war, you have to be a complete idiot to believe in nonsense - that the Russians don’t understand something there, KZbin works for them, they know everything, they just don’t care, they are fascists, the support for the war was 70%, 30% were unhappy with the ruble exchange rate, if the ruble rose and did not fall, then the support for the war would be 97%, support for the war will decrease in direct proportion to the decrease in the amount of food in the refrigerator of the Russians, there are good Russians - 3%. And you don’t have to believe in the nonsense of Russian soldiers, that they didn’t know something there or they were deceived, only a fool can believe in such childish excuses, they came because they wanted to, because they thought it would be easy to rob and kill Ukrainians without dying at the same time , the more they are utilized by the army of Ukraine, the less they will want to war. Russia must first be denazified, demitalized, denucleate, liberated the conquered peoples like Chechnya, which this empire of evil keeps by force, and only then will it be possible to think about democratization.

Trump was hard on Russia. Hillary sold USA Uranium to Russia and got over 100 million for her crime family foundation. Obongo told Putin he would have more time to work together after his reelection. Putin then invaded Crimea. Then Putin did nothing but laugh at democrats with their pathetic Russia hoax for 4 years and Trump put hard sanctions on Russia. Biden removed Trump's sanctions allowing Russia a whole year to build a war chest and now Russia invades the Ukraine under Biden. Stop projecting democrat ills on Republicans.

Jacob Reeves Certainly there are large numbers of brave and articulate Russians such as this guest, with sophisticated knowledge of high-level politics in Russia. But why blame the West and other nations now for "hosting" Putin for the past 22 years of his power. Imo Russians need to stop passing the moral buck onto other countries when political disasters descend, like the current war pulversizing Ukraine. Leaders of other governments cannot possibly be fully aware of Putin's nefarious concealed scheming. How could they be, since Putin is expert at keeping his vile schemes close to his chest until he strikes - secret except with his inner circle and a few select foreign Top Brass cronies of his ilk. The political plays of any country need to be principally resolved internally by its own citizens. Why have the Russian people themselves in the past 22 years not resisted Putin's regime in larger numbers? As one brave YT dissenter in Russia said recently "they cannot arrest everybody". Numbers have power. Yes, everyone is aware how perilous life is for dissenters in Russia - but that is not the fault of other peoples or governments. Imo it is time for a massive uprising of Russians on their streets - too many to arrest. Perhaps there is also general apathy to change the status quo, since the living standard until this most recent war has been relatively good. As a non-Russian I wish people everywhere would stop referring so respectfully to this evil snake as "Mr." or "President" Putin. His current record speaks for itself. Call him just Poo-tin or whatever - no need to show respect to a corrupt war criminal using such polite terms of address.

Dear Vlad; We had problems here in Canada with Quebec separation. Dianne Francis editor of the Financial Post, one of the Toronto Sun’s string of right wing newspapers, suggested that the military go to Quebec if they voted for separation. In response we brought a mock airplane ticket, 8ft x 4ft, to her office, a Complimentary Ticket to Croatia. We let the press know of our protest. The next day, other papers rebuked Dianne’s military option, and we heard not a further peep out of her on the matter. A few years later our Prime Minister was photographed by Toronto Sun, with both hands around a Separatist protesters neck. The picture filled the front page with 1” bold printing across the picture: “NOW BRING ON BOUCHARD”. the leader of the opposition. With paper in hand, I hitch-hiked to Ottawa placing the right wing rag on the desk of the Director of the Cultural department of Foreign Affairs. To his unorthodox brilliance, he seeded my plans to bring three separatists from Quebec, and three who supported national unity, to Bosnia with near $40,000. There was some precedence for his decision, Jaco had performed in front of the notorious Serbian Sarajevo Holiday Inn snipers with clowns from France. When in Bosnia, the two contentious Canadian-Quebecois factions performed admirably. We toured 17 schools throughout the war torn regions of that country. The tour was amazingly successful, not one bad or angry word was said by anyone to anyone including a gay Separatist and a pro-monarchist. Everyone put the kids first. The tour was a great success, celebrated on the front page of a major Quebec newspaper. In Ottawa they invited us up to lead a seminar inaugurating a change in foreign policy which formally supported artists in war zones. The artists are the leading figures in the Quebec Separatist movement. Artists willing go to war zones are the vanguard of that community. We proved, in Canada, we could work effectively together. The separatist movement dwindled after that. Maybe you need to engage in a more creative, humanistic strategy if you want to bring Ukraine back into your sphere of influence.

Hearing Putin constantly make the claim that he is fighting nazis puts me in mind of several passages from Hannah Arendt's On the Origins of Totalitarianism, in which she talked about the tremendous number of parallels between Stalinist Russia and Nazi Germany. Her conclusion was that, while they may have had different points of origin, they were ultimately two slightly different flavors of the same kind of totalitarianism.

Western media just keeps saying the same over and over again and due to how much of a stranglehold the west has over the world, it's media is the most powerful brainwashing tool in human history. When a person with half a brain digs a little, he/she quickly finds out that its mainly Azov who are killing civilians in Mariupol, using apartment buildings to set up their positions without letting citizens leave. Media makes it seem like its only Russia who kills, yet Azov is the one with ISIS style tactics... yet they are seen as heroes. ridiculous... and Putin wasn't lying about Azov using human shields in that sense. @@ankodango9501, I am not sure why you responded to my simple statement in such depth. ..."hangs noodles on his ears?" That made me laugh only because I don't know what the means. What's with all of the Nazi propaganda? Ukrainian people deserve sympathy, what is happening to them is atrocious. Putin gave the orders, did he not? Maybe some people think Putin is right but the average citizens in Russia that know the truth do not. Sanctions are in place, more to come. Personally, it bothers me that the innocent people just trying live life on both sides will pay the ultimate price, that seems unfair since they feel powerless. Not all Russian people have KZbin or social media, the platforms they did have are gone now, KZbin might be blocked soon too. Young tech-savvy people can work around it, but many others can't. From what I have read, many Russian soldiers did not know why they went to Ukraine, some were conscripts. Sure, maybe some had different motives. I found your response to be interesting, bottom line is if peace isn't obtained and other countries bring force, we will all pay for it for many years to come. My hope is, leaders will recognize that is completely counterproductive, no one wins in that case. I don't pretend to know all of the answers or situations, however, we are all humans that wish to live our lives in peace. We all deserve to practice that right.

As a homeless person can I make a prediction? I have been homeless twice due to rise in prices living cost rent hospital bills. My predictions is the American oligarchs are getting way richer while many struggle Americans will go homeless and can’t afford gas. MSM is the devils’ mouthpiece. USA’s dirty lies will eventually end horribly for people but not the rich who control the system.

De-escalation is if extreme importance and often keeps people alive better than other approaches, and for that reason it is vital even if it appears to be temporary appeasement.

My 14 year old daughter has just been studying’Hitlers rise to Power’ in her history lessons. She came in and saw Putin’s speech and within seconds said OMG the parallel between this and Hitler’s speeches are really worrying. If a 14 year old in Britain can see this within seconds - why can’t the Russia people and their supporters?

Because dictators do as much as possible to surpress, delete or change history. That is why control of the media is so important for dictators and their cronies.

@Orbán Viktor Mihály . I guess you’d think that because she has the ability to access facts and make her own mind up, rather than following the Putin doctrine, you’d count that as abuse - that’s a rather Orwellian mind set you have there - have you considered attending a course to help you see straight and be deprogrammed from your unhealthy affliction?

Have you read this book? This is what was written by Great Patriot, Maj.Gen. Smedlej Butler in 1935: " I spent most of the time being a high-class muscleman for big business, for Wall Street, and for the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism"..... -Great Patriot, Maj.Gen. Smedlej Butler " A Racket is best described as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people, only small group inside knows what it is about. It is conducted for the BENEFIT of the very FEW at the EXPENSE of the very MANY". Has anything changed since then?...

we don't take him seriously. He is not authoritative, people will not follow him. And yes... I'll probably surprise you, but the protests against Putin are paid for by American taxpayers. Aren't you offended that American taxpayers' money is going into a black hole? They could better help the problems at the Texas /Mexico border
