Daphne V. Chinese isn’t a language per se, it’s a nationality. She’s speaking mandarin. There are two types of “Chinese”. You have Mandarin which is what Tzuyu speaks, and Cantonese which is what mainland Chinese people speak. Cantonese is simplified Chinese and Mandarin is traditional.

Yves’_smile_thooo Cantonese is not simplified Chinese, it is a dialect or you can also call it another language. Simplified Chinese is the less complicated writing of Chinese characters while traditional is the more complicated writing. Hopefully I make sense:))

I only got into Twice very recently so I'm so glad to see a compilation of Tzuyu speaking Chinese. As a Chinese myself it makes me incredibly happy to hear kpop idols speak my mother tongue haha; it makes me want to learn Korean so I can understand kpop idols even without cc. Anyways, she has such a cute accent when speaking mandarin. As a native speaker I can hear the little parts that's different from the standard mandarin pronunciation (白话), and it just makes me really happy. ^^
