@@MaddJakd Try again to say something that adds to the conversation. My "never meet" phrasing was snarky, not trying to be "factual" but making a point. They meet, I assume, but don't have the same kinds of tech discussions with each other. They don't try to have a meeting of the minds. By definition, flagship buyers are most concerned about performance and I guess some people think phones have "bling". The bling conversation is separate from this one. Midrange buyers frame their choices based on affordability. So if that is not "factual" then you're going to have to explain to me why anyone who has no affordability issues is going to look at an A34. Saving money is literally the only reason to choose one over the S-series. Or put another way, anyone looking for an S-series is not going to need to compare it to an A34 unless they're totally ignorant. The A73 is the only A-series that ever ate in to S series because the screen was better than all of the S-series at the time other than the Ultra. I repeat, nobody is going to seriously question which one is better for them if they don't mind spending money on the S-series. Even the A55 sucks but some might think because the pricing is getting close to the FE-series that they might look at those differences. For me I would never spend the money on the A55 when the FE series are so close in price. But at least one can understand who would, because FE is also mid-range but has most of the features of the S series.

Honestly the performance makes all the difference. All my life I have primarily stuck to budget phones with the last one being Samsung M51. Switched last year to S23+. Where the performance really comes in handy is, I do all my payments and travel ticket bookings through the phone. So there have been times when I am running late and I have to do a train or bus booking at the very last minute. The zippy performance from s23+ has saved the day for me on multiple occasions. Just flying through the options and most importantly, no freezes or app crashes. So, yes if you can afford the extra asking price of the flagship, go for it..makes life a lot more convenient.

Actually, I'm not sure, but I do have some doubts about whether it's a good deal to go for a mid-range product. I always think it might be better to buy a refurbished or second-hand phone that is two or three years old, or even older, which would cost the same price, but at least you're getting something that was considered high-end at the time. For the same price, you get something that is mid-range-is it really worth it after all? Wouldn't it be better to spend 500 euros on an old flagship that was top-of-the-line at its release rather than spending the same amount on something mediocre that you will keep for several years? That's the question I'm pondering.
@yigiteydemir82959 ай бұрын
Today's mid-range phones have most of the features as older flagships. For example A55 has terrible bezels but same design language as new S series, good 120 hz AMOLED screen compared to 3 years ago 60-90Hz versions. IP67 is still good imo. If you're okay with performance and cameras, you'll get probably same user experience for daily usage. Plus, todays mid-range phones will get 4 years OS-5 years security updates, while 2-3 year old flagships are reaching the end of their software support. But since mid-range devices especially Samsung devices are overpriced imo, it makes more sense to buy them with a discount of 300-400. The same goes for the Pixel A series. After all, I would buy a current mid-range instead of 2-3 years old flagship for 500 euros, but my preference would be to buy the current mid-range at a discount :)

Its better to wait for the next phone to come out and see a good discount on a previous phone. Im planning on getting the s24+ since it's the ultra model, but more comfortable and maybe better battery life since the ram has increased. If anything, the s23 base model is what I was going for at first, but stopped to see the s24 line up, and the s24+ overall is a step up from any previous plus models.

I would suggest that instead of buying latest midranger phones buy older flagship phones they are way better and can get a cheap price Then again it depends on your usage

The one thing I like about the optical fingerprint sensor is that you have the freedom to put on any screen protector and still use it without an issue

I have been using A71 5G for years now, Exynos 980 still good, I play Pubg at extreme setting, plastic back is not bad, it looks really good, and it has round corner and shines too. It still feels premium and performers good. camera is also great.

The apps opening faster is a pretty big time saver. Let's just say for example it's 0.2 seconds faster for any app to open on the S24, that might not seem like a long time, but after opening various apps 1,000 times, it adds up to 200 seconds, or 3 minutes and 20 seconds. Thats over 3 minutes of your life just spent waiting for an app to open. And I imagine most people would reach that point very quickly.

When you consider a Poco F4 GT costs around £325 (400 usd approx) the why would anyone spend well over £1200 on a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.... Like I did 🤦 Personally, the Poco was just as good and a 1/4 the price.

Maybe explore the Pixel 9 coming out in August? The cheapest model is allegedly priced at $699, which will smoothly run AI, unlike Apple, where any new or old model IPhone below the IPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max won’t run smoothly their AI.

I had a OnePlus 12R before giving it to my mother, and now I have a Pixel 8A. In the past I have usually had flagship phones. When looking at mid-range phones OnePlus in Google do it right. They have flagship processors and good cameras. I'm okay with the plastic back of the pixel. I'm okay with no wireless charging on the 12R because it charges so fast. What I am not okay with is a mid-range phone with a lousy processor that is slow such as the Samsung a35. That is why I would avoid that phone. I don't care if it has a glass back or not. Put a case on the phone.

To me the biggest factor was the wireless charging. So far I always had S-Series phones, so I considered it a rather normal feature and I still don't understand why they wouldn't simply put this in the A-Series as well. The second thing I just don't understand is that the A35 5G is available in Europe and elsewhere with 256gb and 8gb ram dual sim, whereas the 256gb version just does not exist on the US American market, not even from the Samsung webpage itself. Why would they only have the 128gb version in the US?
@noratownКүн бұрын
Samsung wants American consumers to move up to the S24 FE or higher/newer models. We have a weird cellular market in the USA. 🙃

Yes, the Pixels use optical fingerprint sensors, and I detest that. It's the only thing that prevents me from buying them. Google's implementation of optical FPS fails miserably for me.

All they have to do is shrink the screen size for the A series and leave the larger screen displays for the S+ series, people who want bigger phone would flock over to the S series, and people who want smaller phones (like me) and/or cheaper phones (like me) would get the A series but have to sacrifice (not for me) the screen size, as well as battery... Maybe even make A30s same size as the S20s and A50s to S20+s so people would get the more expensive A50s if they want bigger screens

I think the biggest rivalry to the A35 is the S23. Last year I upgrade phone and I had a budget of 400€. The A34 was 380. A second hand S22 was 400. The only thing I lake is battery life because S22 generation. Without that, I am pleased with my phone. I didn't thought that I would take a lot of picture but is realy convenient. I checked quickly and you can get S23 for 500€... so an A35/55 or S23 is the real question.

OIder flagship is always gonna be better than a new budget or mid range. Had the a52 and couldnt put up with the fingerprint scanner, stuttering, poor software optimization, bad camera, etc..s21 fe is 10x better in specs and user experience. Always get the S model samsungs, even from a few yrs back. Software updates mean nothing when the software optimization was poor to begin with.

Hey Mike! I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate you reviewing phones besides flagships, and, even though some consider there to be huge differences in the two phones, only tech enthusiasts will really feel those. The bezels, the processor, the camera, are definitely noticeable improvements, but only too those who are actively searching for those differences. In short, thanks for your amazing reviews, and they are much appreciated. Kudos....from Pakistan 😉

I have the basic Samsung S24. The camera takes really horrible pictures. Harsh looking pix, and the camera doesn’t pick up the colors I see like my old S21. Is there any adjustments I can make to improve the camera? Seriously thinking of returning it. Feel Samsung has let me down on this one.

I would never spend $500+ on a tiny screen unless it's a handheld console like a steamdeck or rog ally. a $200 phone can basically do the same things a $1000 phone can.
