DC Metro Early/Late 2000's Blue Line

I present some early video's I shot with an old film camera in the early and late 2000's on the blue line portion Washington DC Metro system. Take note that some trains are using colored/lettered placards before the digital displays for the lines. These are the days I was also learning to use a camera. This will be a series's of tapes I've dug out of storage to convert to digital to share with you all! As someone who is born in 2008 and grew up with the old trains, I really miss the older generation it reminds me of my childhood. Now all we have left are the silent 7000 series. I miss the good old days.

Now we lost the 2000 series of trains. Quite a tragedy because we only got the 3000 and 6000s left and the 3000s are due to be replaced starting in 2027. Not sure when the 6000s will go but i will dearly miss them.

I LOVE IT! I wish the 2000s and 3000s were never rehabbed, but they maybe wouldn't be running then. I also dont think its fair that they retired the 4000s and 5000s, because 1, they could hvae fixed the doors and 2. The 5000s retired when they were only 18!

The 4000 series had been prone to several breakdowns, causing delays and Metro decided they were too defective for an overhaul. As per the 5000 series, they were the "lemons", meaning they were delivered with several defects. They also had various maintenance issues.

@@SuperWorldRailFanProductions Dang, that sucks. Also, do you know about the NYC Subways? If so, I was hearing Rumors about the Ro110As, "Coming Back." They say that in 2025, they will be returned to service. As the R142C. And Im pretty sure you know about the MARC trains, do you know if the ther II cab cars 7745-7756 will return? I hope Im not asking for too much.

@@RockvilleTrainFan The R188s are currently the R142C trains, and I assume it is unlikely the R110s would return to service based on my observation. and yep, I know the MARC cab cars.

And its interesting that when the 2000s and 3000s recently got rehabbed at the time whn this was taken, it said for example, "2000AC"

These cars pre-rehab had DC traction motors. The "AC" placards were to indicate that the car had AC traction motors and really was only necessary as the rehab program was underway; when it was done there were no 2000s or 3000s with DC traction

Updated: 64 7000 series trains return on June 2022 since the Blue Line collision on October 2021. To replaced by Breda 2000/3000 series and Alstom 6000 series trains for Red, Blue, Orange, Silver, Green and Yellow Line trains 60%. We hope all the 7000 series trains returning to service. All 7000 series returns by late February or March 2023 after Silver Line Phase 2 openings in November 2022. 0:11 Old Breda 4000 series on the first car. It must be replaced by 7000 series trains. 0:56 there it goes the old Breda 4000. 1:09 4 car 1000 series trains. 1:36 there's a Breda 3000 series arrived at Arlington Cemetery on the Blue Line. 1:54 there's a Breda 2000 series early rehab arrives at Arlington Cemetery on the Blue Line where the CAF 5000 series on the last car trains. 2:16 1000 series let the sound of 7000 series departs on Orange Line goes to Vienna Fairfax Geroge Mason University from Federal Triangle. The Silver Line phase 2 Extension opening has begun and goes to Ashburn from Largo Town Center. 2:24 Breda 2000 series trains early rehab on the Blue Line to Largo Town Center from Smithsonian. 2:42 it supposed be CAF 5000 series trains on the last car where the Breda 2000 series 4 car, not old Breda 4000 series to replace by 7000 series trains. 2:57 there's a 1000 series arrive to let the sound of 7000 series at Smithsonian where the Blue Line to Franconia Springfield bound, Orange Line to Vienna bound or Silver Line to Ashburn bound. 3:21 1000 series to let the sound of 7000 series trains for Red, Blue, Orange, Silver, Green, and Yellow Line trains. Blue Line goes to Franconia Springfield depart from Smithsonian. The Silver Line are going to Ashburn or Washington Dulles International Airport grand opening since November 15, 2022. 3:48 there's a 1000 series trains arrived at Arlington Cemetery, the Blue Line goes to Franconia Springfield. It got retired since July 2017 already replaced by 7000 series trains. 4:08 CAF 5000 series trains on the Blue Line from Metro Center it goes to Largo Town Center. 4:18 I don't see Breda 2000 series early rehab on the middle car. 4:22 that's a last car on CAF 5000 series trains. All 7000 series trains are returning to service in Late February or March 2023.
