Perfect names for perfect baby boys! My children all carry names that reflect their heritage and honor our ancestors. Yes, many people have mispronounced them over the years, it never seemed to bother them but they did come up with their own nicknames when they were school age. My second boy was born in AZ and he was the one of my 4 that most reflects our Scottish ancestry so he was small, bald, and pink. Visitors to the hospital would line up in front of the hospital nursery to look at the “little bald white baby” as compared to the hearty tan Indian and Mexican babies with their full heads of hair. Interestingly, that son is the one man of the bunch who has very little facial hair which is typical of many of the northeastern Native men, the same “problem” my dad had which meant he could never grow a beard like his friends could. When the white colonizers appeared, my Scot and the kids’ Viking ancestors, the Native men were not the ones who looked wild and savage! My daughter is many years younger than my boys and she grabbed up all the Native heritage, so the visitors and nurses in PA commented on her beautiful thick dark hair, tan skin and plump body. She lost the plump and kept the skin (never had to use sunblock on that baby when we went swimming, unlike her pink brother! ) and thick dark straight hair. As you well know Native ancestry makes for stunning gorgeous women and strong handsome men. Much love and blessings to your lovely family and lucky grandparents.

I am so happy that you gave them these beautiful names. There is a rise in latinos owning their native and african ancestry through naming their kids. There girls named after African Orisha Yamaha ( a mother Orisha who watched over the Africans when in the slave ships took them from Africa to North America) Also some boys are getting native names or nick names because families still give their kids Spanish and English names for assimilation and job future.
