I used to interpret this as "look for a present to give yourself" like a donut or new shoes, but I think it's really more of "don't reject the presents that life presents you with." Like feeling sleepy and having a nap, accepting a cup of coffee when offered, or buy something on a whim. Don't go out looking for them but appreciate the things that life puts in your path.

Of course, Lynch, the set and costume designer, all had a fetish for the post-WWII boom. I think it's something he makes a point of to construct, deconstruct and reconstruct in every single project of his. Twin Peaks season 1 and 2 both posit this. Fire Walk with Me deconstructs it, and The Return puts it on it's head.

I love lines, advice from show and this was a great one. I've written down so many over the years yhis is definitely one to remember. This so true, yet why is it we find it so difficult to just be in the present, when its all we really have in life, is the given moment? Because tomorrow's not promised, we should love the PRESENT while we are given the time in the moment to appreciate what we have while we have it before its taken away from us. @@DarkeningSkies1 Yeah, Cooper honestly feels like David wrote himself into a character sometimes (although there's plenty of Maclachlan in there as well, and the character couldn't exist without Kyle's perfect performance and everything he adds to it). If you watch videos of David, you can definitely see the similarities between him and Coop (mindfulness, intuition, love of coffee, passion for life, quirkiness, etc.). Same with Kyle. Both of their personalities come through pretty strong in Coop

When I saw the ending of season one, I gave up the show and the director. I just found out the end of season two and the end of the reboot. Never seeing this show again was a great call.
