classic moment right there it's that type of humor that people expect from the series and it's that type of humor that was missing from the movie which is why a lot of people don't like it although there are deleted scenes with that type of humor filmed for it.

A good thing to point out in your "10 things" video for this episode would be the the Mitchum brothers probably got Sonny Jim a gym, because that's what Dougie Coop told them to get for him... That is, when they asked "What should we get your son, Jim?" he replied by repeating his name "Jim", misinterpreted by the brothers as "gym". Hilarious little detail

Yeah, they were talking about a gym in the restaurant and someone mentioned that might be how the topic came up. If that's the case they should have used that idea all throughout the season haha.

I don't think another day has passed in Twin Peaks, which is odd, because it was nighttime the last time Bobby was there. But when Bobby sits down with Ed and Norma, he tells them that they "just found some stuff from my dad today..." Which I assume is the tube from the chair.
@PunksterOS7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I noted that too. It was dark out when that gunshot came through the RR Diner, which happened after finding the Major Briggs' McGuffin, then we see Bobby in different civilian clothes from the last time, talking about that event as if it just happened. Weird. I know Lynch's time is always slow and odd but this actually felt like a continuity error. I normally just go, 'Ach, it's Twin Peaks, time is not that important,' But this time, it really stood out.

There's been a lot of strange time "glitches" going on in Twin Peaks, I think they're just getting more obvious. And on some level, the glitch in the boxing match Sarah is watching is the most obvious example.
@nicklivingston38897 жыл бұрын
In the last episode we saw Dougie playing catch with Sonnie Jim and at the beginning of this ep he's still out from the night with the Mitchum Brothers so we're definitely jumping around on timelines and I think this episode really pointed that out.

Also worth noting (based on this thread): Becky calls Shelly, worried that Steven hasn't been home in 2 nights. Shelly very calmly talks her through it, and then offers the pie & ice cream. This seems like a very odd approach, considering that the last we'd seen of them, Becky, Shelly, and Bobby were sitting in the booth, discussing the fact that Becky had just pumped 6 bullets into the apartment door of Steven's mistress. Based on that, I also think this scene was a time-hop, going back to PRIOR to the incident we saw a few weeks ago (Becky flipping out, Shelly on the hood, firing the bullets, seeing Steven & Gersten Hayward in the stairwell, etc.). It almost feels like that THOSE scenes, in Part 11, were the culmination of the scene we just saw in Part 13. Which kinda goes hand-in-hand w/ the fact that Bobby is saying they just found the stuff from his dad "today". Everything's jumpin' around, people!!! IS IT FUTURE...OR IS IT PAST? I don't have the foggiest idea, but I love watching it & trying to figure it out...

As for the looping TV, I think time is messed up in Twin Peaks; the Palmer house in particular. That's why Sarah is so confused when she sees something all new in the liquor store. Also, it's probably why there was a sound in the kitchen when she was talking to Hawk at the door - the sound was from when she went in there at another time.

Completely agree, I think there are strong hints of quantum physics at work here- the nearness to a portal or someone out of the normal stream of time seems to be creating future echoes to me, just thinking of Candy seemingly doing things in the wrong order & as I mentioned above, the commentator on the boxing match seems to call the action before it happens. I'm gonna get my Dad to watch that bit- he knows more about boxing than me & I might have missed something!

We're all returning to the starting position. The closer we get to the end of the season the more I think David doesn't want Twin Peaks to end. By now, I am not expecting much to resolve by the end of the season. And something tells me Season 4 won't be happening, hopefully I'm wrong, but current ratings don't look too promising which is unfortunate coz I enjoy watching something unusual with a different approach. I find myself bored watching any other shows that all make perfect sense and hold no mystery.

Yeah I can't see a fourth season. The thing is that this season hasn't been accessible enough to reel in the kind of audience that the original did. But David Lynch will always have a loyal, if small in the grander scheme of things fanbase, but unfortunately for TV companies it's all about ratings, not quality. I'd be surprised if Lynch wanted to make a fourth season anyway but there are so many characters and so many situations set up that as far as i'm concerned, five episodes is simply not going to be enough to bring this season to a satisfying ending, especially at the pace that Lynch goes at. Hope I'm proved wrong though.

At the start of the Big Ed scene at the end, the scrap of paper is clearly in the wide shot. As the camera pans in, Big Ed looks down at it for half a second like he's gonna grab it. He's clearly thinking about it. The whole scene is him pondering what to do with the scrap of paper. Now, keeping in mind that Ed is a Bookhouse Boy, and that they are credited with fighting the 'darkness' and 'presence' that exists in the woods, the scrap of paper could be the coordinates Briggs left behind for Bobby, Hawk and Frank. Bobby quite possibly could have left the paper for Ed to see, and Ed, knowing his gas station could be going out of business, and his love for Norma always being put on the back burner (looking like permanently), knows it's time to go face the evil. So, he commits the coordinates to memory, burns the paper so no one can track him, and plans to meet the guys for one last confrontation, knowing full well what that could mean. Just a theory...
@dlower237 жыл бұрын
Big Ed is there to illustrate that "the best lack all conviction, while the worst are filled with passionate intensity". 'Strictly Cash' reads a sign as he looks out into a world and times that he hasn't "moved along" with and hence sounds of cars on a busy highway but no one stopping at a gas station that doesn't accept debit or major credit cards.

Clearly Big Ed is stuck in the past. I think Norma is also stuck in the past too but in a slightly different way. Walter wants her to get with the times and lower her standards for her restaurants. I noticed that American flag image behind Big Ed and thought that was an odd thing for Lynch to put in there but I think he's saying Ed represents the old values of America perhaps. Today though cars are more and more hybrids or electric only so you see Ed's Gas Farm will have less and less business. Also he is still using an old landline phone while everyone else is using cellphones. I'm wondering if he will consider burning the place down and cashing out an insurance policy and then guess who gets sent to Twin Peaks to check out the claim? Good old Dougie.

Cool as hell episode. Bobby mentions that they found something left by his father today. That confused me a bit. Is he talking about the items from "the chair"? That would have been way back in part 9. So, it's a few days since they were supposed to go into the woods. I'm thinking he means that Major Briggs left something in the woods and we'll see what they found in the next episode.

For me, the Sarah Palmer scene came across as though it was commentating on her life like a constant looping fight, drinking , smoking and wallowing in misery and pain over and over, thats pretty much what weve seen of her so far anyhow. As for Ed at the end, it was like he was stuck in the past, even his business is still a cash only and everything was passing him by, Was quite sad to see. *An interesting observation somebody has made about Ed's reflection in the gas farm window at the end is not in sync with what he is actually doing and appears to glitch like on a loop, which kind of ties in with the looping with sarah palmer....just what is going on in twin peaks ?...:) Also the scene between Norma and her franchise manager (?) seemed like a play on Lynchs orignal issues with showtime over the budget complaints when trying to come to an agreement and he walked unless full creative control and enough cash to do the script properly. Re watch the scene and the listen to the dialogue, Norma was called an artist, they had successful franchises but hers was problematic because it was costing to too much for each pie :) If you know the story about that, It gives the scene a whole new meaning and funny little dig from Lynch.

Sabre Flurry Though some will trot out the old "it was filmed in one go" standby, I think the timing of this Twin Peaks-centric episode was timed perfectly in order to anticipate the viewer grumbling provoked by ep. 12 (among others). This I feel was a self-reflexive move in order to show how things can never go back to the way things were before in the town/tv show/world, no matter how much networks for money and viewers for nostalgia might wish it. Big Ed wants the old Twin Peaks back too, you just know it, which is why the episode ends as it does...but wishes (playing with fire) have a way of burning people in that world and this.

Hi there, Pete, as I rewatch the scene with Sarah Palmer, the looped clip of the boxing match suggests something off about the electricity in the house, obviously, but the clip goes like this: Looks like he's got the big guy by the ear (Sarah Palmer hears or senses spirits around, whether her house or the grocery store), and he's finally down (Sarah loses it), the gentleman asks if he's alright (Hawk comes over to ask if she's alright), he says he's ok (Sarah says she's fine), etc. I think Sarah could have a bigger role in terms of fighting something. She may be down for now, but she's not out. One thing I've been doing with the Sarah Palmer scenes is looking in the mirrors behind her, which is how we accidentally first saw BOB. Something is definitely wrong in the Palmer house, but I think Sarah has a certain fight/battle/mission to conquer.

I think what happened was Dougie was touching his dandruff, and like the Slot Machine synchronistic-fortune, he touched Tony in such a way that was like some special pressure point massage that unconsciously made him break down into tears seeing the ill of his ways and seeks forgiveness. Just another example of the serendipitous synchronicity that is beheld by, what I call, the Coop-Coupe (the 2 Coopers who are presently in both inter-dimensional Lodges, Dougie/White Lodge and Mr. C/Black Lodge). 'Dougie' has the powers of good and fortune and 'Evil Coop' has the powers of evil and destruction.

If you sync the boxing match repeating on Sarah Palmer's TV with the woodsman's "This is the water and this is the well" speech from Episode 8 the timing exactly matches - suggesting that it was in fact her that the frog moth inhabited and that she is still under the spell of the woodsmen through various forms (although perhaps she drinks to resist the effects of this).

2 things I noticed- Evil Coop's fingers in the arm wrestling scene- is it me or did they look wooden? However, I did notice that the commentary seems to be out of sync with the action- the commentator seems to say that he catches the big guy by the ear before he actually does?

The arm wrestling scene has eliminated any doubt: Bob is still with Bad Coop. He has supernatural strength.

I was hoping that Norma was going to say something about her mother to explain the inconsistencies in the secret history that Mark Frost told us there would be. But still nothing after 13 episodes to explain them. I think Frost made mistakes and because he was promoting the book he's not going to say "yeah, I fucked it up, there are a load of inconsistencies in there". Hope Frost and Lynch do prove me wrong but I'm not holding my breath.

The arm wrestling match seems to me to be a commentary on this whole season. We get this huge suspense, almost painfully waiting for real cooper to come back, cheering on Dougie to wake up, even desperately, then evil Coop says, “Starting position is much more comfortable.” We were all more comfortable before this season started. Then evil coop obliterates our expectations, breaks his arm, and kills him. It would have been too much of a giveaway, had the guy been the boss for 25 years....but he said 14 years.

I didn't think that was dandruff, just thought it was some of the powdered poison, also, the t.v. loop, if you listen real carefully, it changes, it gets shorter, I think. take a listen again.

Any thoughts on the microphone changing positions in the scene with James singing his song? Some points it is straight on and other it is to the side, almost looks as though it is a different mic stand...I can't imagine it is a continuity error? I wonder if within the live music scenes they are in different times/dimensions with slight & subtle differences i.e. the 2 chromatics performances and the james / mic stand thing?

I'm not sure if people realize (or care) but this was Evil Coop VS Jason. The guy Kyle arm wrestles played Jason in Friday The 13th (2009).

I didn't realize that. I loved this character, but some of my friends were saying they thought the whole farm sequence was dumb. I thought that was a big part of the appeal haha

I haven't seen anyone else make this connection, but it seems pretty evident that Sarah has some compulsion or deep interest in raw physical domination, and given her history, it makes sense she'd be obsessed with being destroyed by ruthless. aggressive force.

@petepeppers Diane's scenes are def playing out of sequence because watch her outfit at the meeting w gordon al and tami when she is invited into the blue rose, then watch ep 12 where she texts about las vegas. Then right after that she has a GREEn shirt not like the other outfit. And her flashback to when she saw the coordinates she has the green shirt. Please ibnvestigate this and the mandela link.

Isn't there an incoherence with Dougie's storyline ? Because I don't know when the scene from the previous episode (3x12) with Dougie and his son is supposed to take place, considering he seems to have spent the night between episodes 11 and 13 with the Meechum brothers... And there's the fact that Bobby tells Norma that they have just found something Briggs left, when at least a day should have passed since they visited his mom considering the events of the previous episodes (such as the shots fired at the dinner). It seems to reveal that the story is not told in chronological order.

Something so strange is going on with Audrey! I was thinking of how beautiful Sherlynn Fenn is and it made it sent me down the KZbin rabbit hole looking at clips of her older movies. I happened across Boxing Helena and I had an epiphany...what if Audrey is still in a coma and dreaming all this?!? Maybe Charlie is an employee at the hospital and playing mind games on her while she's in a coma like state. Or maybe she's not in a coma but the after effect of the coma has left her in a vegetative state where Charlie plays head games with her. Either way that " Ending your story" line creeped the hell outta me.

In the scene with Ray, after Evil Coop shoots him an accountant looking guy seems to appear and asks Coop if he needs any money--is this the mysterious billionaire?
@garycottier927 жыл бұрын
No. I think it was just showing the ficklness of criminals. They will suck up to anyone they fear.

When the owl ring gets placed back on the table, that sure looks like MIKE's jacket sleeve placing it there. Also, could it be possible that the paper that Big Ed burned at the end was the one last missing diary page?

It seems Phillip Jeffries must be working with Mike after all (or maybe Mike is posing as Jeffries), otherwise how could they have gotten the ring to Ray when we last saw it falling off of Dougie Prime's finger in the Waiting Room?
@justwondersometimes24827 жыл бұрын
What does the ring actually do? Does it trap souls in the redroom?
@pallaf1007 жыл бұрын
I think so. Jeffries wanted to trap Bad Coop back in the Black Lodge.

I always get sad when they talk about Jeffries. Apparently Bowie was signed on before he got sick ... :(
@johnnio997 жыл бұрын
It is a way/the way of bringing souls into the red room. Dougie had the ring on when he got replaced by Cooper, if Ray had indeed killed Bad Coop and put the ring on him, bad Coop would hve been sent back to the red room.

That's true. I find it funny that he still doesn't play what the track plays, there's a distinct pull off and hammer on between the switching of the chords, yet he doesn't mime those, ever. It's a pretty nice joke, played straight once again.

i think it was also confirmed that time is out of joint in terms of the sequence of events because in the diner scene with Bobby and Big Ed he mentions that he found some of his dads old stuff "today", and that happened a few episodes back but we've seen Bobby go to the diner during the night in the scene with his daughter / the traffic jam. most things appear to have a chronological order but events are happening somewhat out of sequence, i'd imagine culminating into the finale when everything finally comes together
@PetePeppers17 жыл бұрын
I think this could be an actual continuity error. Just doesn't strike me as there being something important related to it, but could obviously be wrong.
@rapaciousinterloper47257 жыл бұрын
Pete Peppers, I bet against it being a continuity error. There seems to be a supernatural anomaly with the space-time continuum. This was the point of the looping boxing match on Sarah Palmer's television. Lynch just has a brilliantly subtle way of depicting it, unlike most directors who club you over the head with it. It can also be seen in the last scene with Big Ed and his out of sync reflection in the window. I think that's why he lights the piece of paper on fire, to more clearly see the time anomaly in the reflection. Love the work you're doing here; keep it up!

Reggie and The Tall Man from Phantasm showing up is my favorite theory. I do think, after just watching the last movie, that something similar to the dimension/portal concept they uaed Membrane Theory (lots of universes exist and the parts where they intersect allow for travel or parallel effect) will be similar in the show. Who knows though really but itll be great to watch what it ends up being.

Bob is still in evil Coop. The only time evil Coop questioned this was in prison looking in a mirror to make sure the plan of Bob not being pulled back to the lodge was successful... as he came awful close to being sucked into the lighter socket.

The scene with Sarah REALLY reminded me of the woodsmen's speech on ep 8. I felt it had the same kinda rhythm (although it wasn't nearly as catchy), and there are theories going on that she was the teenage girl the mothroach crawled into that same night, so it'd make some sense. And last episode she DID say: "there are men coming" so i could see it's something like that. Did anyone keep hearing clinking sounds or was that the tv? or me?

There was definitely a sound included in the loop or that was playing at the same time. Didn't know what to make of it on first watch. Will re-watch today and do full recap tomorrow.

GUYS !! Just had a Breakthrough !! Now that we now know that they are presenting us scenes that are taking place in different Time Sequences (they are showing us different timelines in the show!!) I can now conclude that the part in episode 2 or 3 WHEN THE LOG LADY DIRECTS HAWK TO THE Entrance of "the zone" . That scene is taking place at the end of the story !! That is prob one of the last scenes of the show!! We clearly see that hawk sees the red curtains opening when he gets to the location !!! And then the scene fades to white! Also i think that scene with sara palmer tells us that She is the one that had the frog creature go in her mouth !!!!!
@garycottier927 жыл бұрын
I don't know. I think the log lady makes a reference to Glastonbury grove when she phones up Hawk when he's looking at the map with Frank. When Hawk was on his way to Glastonbury grove the log lady asks him to tell her what happens. In the episode with Frank, the log lady says to Hawk "you didn't tell me what happened", which is obviously a reference to earlier on. Hawk obviously saw or found something that he's keeping to himself.
@therockny107 жыл бұрын
Gary Cottier trust me, that part is out of order. It happens at end of story....... theres no way everything is presented on the same time line
