ALSO CONSIDER: yes Cooper is obsessed with shoes. His shoes fell off in the room he escaped from in episode 3 (with Ronette Polaski or whoever she played. That means Dale has been wearing HIS SUIT but DOUGIES SHOES this whole time. "Shoes make the man." Maybe finding HIS shoes will "complete" Dale and that's why he's been so fixated on shoes. Notice how the camera cut to the shoes falling off of him when he escaped. He also stroked very affectionately (and almost longingly) the shoes of the statue in episode 5. I think that might be what turns Cooper into the real Cooper again, his shoes
@gfox92957 жыл бұрын
Interesting thought. But since his shoes are trapped back at the electrical socket in purple land, I doubt he's ever going to see them again. Dougie-Coop for life, apparently! Ah well, at least it's a good character. ;)

Did anyone happen to notice that Dougie Jones boss, when talking with the Fusco brothers, ends the encounter by making a fist and then opening his hand 3 times....just like the dancing lady in red? It's a very deliberate action. See Ep 9 @ 12:05. Also it was Dougie's boss who said that he "understood" what the scribbles on Dougie's case files meant. Hmmmm.....
@Ungtartog7 жыл бұрын
Another interesting detail is that in a previous episode evil Coop's finger prints were reversed, which they blamed on human error. In this episode we hear of other dimensions and alternate realities. In the popular conception, these are the same thing... in physics they are not. Most SF stories treat "other" dimensions as universes that invisibly exist parallel to our own. In physics, a conception of higher spatial dimension is an added "depth" for lack of a better common word to describe it. A cube in 4d is not a cube which is invisible to 3d observers in another reality, it would appear as a normal 3d cube and would have aspects that extend *in to* a 4d space... we would just observe the 3d "facet" of the object. In the same way you can "flip" a 2d object through the 3rd dimension (similar to turning over a sheet of paper) you could conceptually "flip" a 3 dimensional object through a 4th spatial dimension... essentially manifesting what the object looks like reflected in a mirror, right becomes left, etc.. (reversed fingerprints) It looks like the show may either be using both conceptions or fusing them together. I'm guessing Dougie's prints are going to come back as Coop's, matching the orientation found on file. Okay, what the hell... since I'm rambling... We are presented the notion that inverted Coop has a specific duration in *regular* world before he has to return to the lodge, after hence *regular* Coop re-emerges. Through some arcane trickery, which causes no small amount of agony for himself, inverted Coop manages to retain his presence in this reality and thwart, to some degree, Dale's successful return. "Dougie" is warned that one of them must die... perhaps this isn't so much due to some mystical law, but more to the properties of being a hyper dimensional object rotating in higher dimensions... To get back to the cube metaphor, the front and back of a 3d cube cannot occupy the same 2d plane without distorting the cube (they exist on two parallel planes adjacent to each other). A rigid cube would have to be broken in half to accomplish this. Let's say then, that we are talking about an object with more flexibility than a rigid cube and a shape more suited to bending, but still with some degree of resistance to distortion... say, like a rubber eraser. You can bring the opposing ends of the eraser into the same plane, but it requires a fair amount of energy to do so, and as soon as the energy too keep the eraser in a bent shape is released, the poles of the eraser spring back into their opposing positions. So Coop is some kinda rubbery shape, rotating through higher spatial dimensions, which pass through parallel realities... Both Coops are "real", but only one "facet" can occupy a "plane" of existence at a time. It does seem that this "rotation" is an unusual attribute as it doesn't appear as common in the twin peaks reality, but it does seem common in the lodge... so there is *something* about or in the lodge thats set these rotations in motion. Like, all the characters have inverted selves, but when everything is normal, regular selves stay in regular world and inverted selves stay in inverted world. Now if we are talking about space, we are inevitably drawn into a conversation about time... we've been given to understand that specific coordinates, which include time as a metric, are necessary to travel through dimensions/realities... there are other aspects, specific acts and substances that may be required (pocket of dirt)... the criteria of which are not yet fully revealed. Discussions of time can quickly become very complex, so I'm doing my best to just extract from what has been presented so far. I note that the director has as very specific intent with tempo, the pacing of things, time... this feels to me like a direct effort to influence how we, the observers of the story, arrange our perception of time. Why is the "lingering" awkward? What is fast? What is slow? In relation to what? I feel like this introspection is desired... or perhaps he is asking this question at such a base level of consciousness, he is not anticipating such specific rumination. The reverse speech in the black lodge is also part of the time model.... curiously, to us the observer, events unfold in a forward sequence (performed backward, but played *forward* for our benefit), but if one were actually in the lodge performing the actions (as the actors do) the events happen in reverse... to a denizen of the lodge, the way *we* perceive events, would be backwards. I can't see how all the pieces fit together yet, but there is obviously a way to break linear time since we have Major Briggs 40 year old body (unless Doppleganger). Sure there is more, this kinda freeform thought:... the new shape of the arm is interesting. If you imagine a 4d space as extending in time, than all of life on earth is one organism with each organism a filament on a great tree like structure... like a cladogram, but with perfect detail and curly because the whole thing is rotating in space in all kinds of directions. We are also shown the inverted tree (arm) which seems to have a destructive and hostile quality. The name "The arm" itself evokes chirality... a left and right side of things. Two trees in the garden of eden, the tree of life, and the tree of knowledge... two hemispheres of the brain one side attenuated to the convergent, one side to the divergent. These two principals permeate the universe, create the action of it, expansion and contraction. What shape can expand and contract at the same time without changing volume? Imagine the surface of a ring, stretchy, like rubber, rotating in on itself, through its center and back out... like a magnetic field... as the "skin" of the ring moves toward the center, it contracts, as it rolls through towards the edge, it expands... the ring stays the same. Two forces, in harmony, rotating. Ask the tree "what is below the soil?"... It answers: "A dark reflection of myself" ... There is only one tree... an up tree, and a down tree, connected at the trunk, it's branches limning an unseen torus. Keep your eye on the donut... not the hole.

Mr. Cooper didn't text Diane. He texted someone (most likely Duncan Todd) and they warned Diane. His original message reads: "around the dinner table the conversation is lively" Diane's received message: "AROUND THE DINNER TABLE, THE CONVERSATION IS LIVELY." Someone on Reddit said this means that the primary evil spirits are back at the Black Lodge...i.e., The Arm and Bob sitting around the Formica table.

Guys have you noticed that the Fuscos are a HUGE cameo to the Sheriff Cable played by Gary Bullock in Fire walk with me? First of all the resemblance between G. Bullock and David Koechner (who plays D. Fusco) is outstanding, especially in facial expressions and the way of acting. Then in Fire walk with me Sheriff Cable and his crew laughed a lot in a strange way (mostly at the FBI agent Chester Desmond) exactly like the Fusco's crew. And Dougie's boss did exactly the same gesture of opening and closing the fist that Lil the Dancer did and which meant the hostility of the local authorities in working with the FBI.

Mr. C writes a text message all in lower case letters with no punctuation. The message Diane receives is all in caps and has correct punctuation. It's somewhat possible, considering this is not just a continuity error, that the message was actually for someone else and it was relayed to her by that person (Jeffries?).
@MWalkah7 жыл бұрын
Another possibiity was suggested by a reddit user: "Smogshaik. I think it's some kind of ring or group of select individuals. DoppelCoop messages one person and that person messages a whole group of maybe 10 people, one of which is Diane. The message could be the calling of a meeting, but maybe that's a little obvious."

No, if that was the case she'd know _immediately_ who Bad Coop was, she wouldn't have to be arm-twisted by Gordon to such extent, and her reaction from talking to Bad Coop would certainly NOT be anywhere near that tortured and upset. All she'd have to do was to put up merely a reasonable amount of playacting, there would be zero reason for her to come up with such performance.

Hi guys, I think an oversight of Ep. 9 was that they never went back to mentioning Andy's investigation into the hit and run truck. The vehicular homicide of this little boy probably would have been the biggest crime to take place in a small town like Twin Peaks in the last 25 years, and no one from the police is investigating it? Andy is looking at furniture on the internet? The crime was not even mentioned, but in reality the TPPD would have every officer working on it around the clock, right?

What if his foot has become a seperate being. THE FOOT. I say this because it's completly covered so they are saving it as a reveal. And there is already an arm that has a similar voice. So he probably will cut it off just like the other guy did. And Bob's partner said he cut it off because it was evil. And it probably spoke to him and tried to sway him, just like the arm is doing with dougie in episode 7. So the foot or leg might actually be a good being... You saw it here first

I really believe that coffee could be one of the ways Dougie-Coop snaps back into Dale Cooper. I know he's had coffee already in the series, but I believe him drinking Twin Peaks coffee from the Double R Dinner, which he loves so much, will help him remember. I know I could be compleatly wrong but there is a scene in my head that plays out where Dougie-Coop manages to waddle his way back to Twin Peaks (cause he's got to get their eventually), gets into the Double R Dinner, Shelly or Norma regonize him and are like "Dale? You've been gone for 25 years! Well....here's some coffee if you want", he takes a sip of coffee, and then he jumps up yelling "DAMN GOOD COFFEE", gets really excited, starts being Dale Cooper again, and then whatever follows. I think it was in the original pilot where Audrey rode to school in a dark skirt with black and white shoes. When she got to her locker she swapped out her shoes for red ones. The things that capture Dougie Cooper's attention are things directly connected to his past. The reason the woman at the police station caught his attention is because the dark-skirt-and-red-shoes combo was an Audrey Horne signature look! Yeah, there's a lot of other red in this episode, but I don't think Cooper's attention is drawn by anything deeper that his connection to Audrey.

I think at some point, he gets his gun too : D 14:28 notice the blood flowing down similar to the photo One of the girls (not the Sky Ferrea one), seems like one of the girls in Lynch's short, A Room To Dream, but could be not Speaking of red, are we missing the blood?

I just wanted to point out that the red bandana handkerchief that bad Coop retrieves off the fence, is very very similar to the Cowboy's bandana handkerchief in Mullholland Dr. I thought that was pretty interesting.

Do you think that the FBI perhaps knows that Diane has been communicating with Bob Cooper? We know that she doesn't seem to be working in any FBI office right now, but we don't know whether that was her decision or that she was squeezed out for some reason?

Why did Hastings date 09/20 with his signature, but 10/01 is only 48 hours away? Is 09/20 the date he claims to have seen Briggs?
@Redfoot1387 жыл бұрын
I thought that at first but if you look closely the date is actually 9/29.

Mike Moore oh thanks I wasn't the only one to see that! Is it 9/29???
@AmirBuxbaum7 жыл бұрын
Clearly he's writing 09/20 (the "0" and the "9" are completely different). So either we have different timelines viewed simultaneously, or Lynch made a rare mistake.

Amir Buxbaum It's hard to see, but the tail of the 9 is written at the intersection of two colors. Also, being handcuffed, it was difficult to write for Bill. The 9 he wrote looks weird.

I took the package of food Chantal gives to Bob Cooper to be a form of code. Hutch gives him the phone, he texts, makes his phone call, and then puts the phone in his back pocket like he intends to keep it. She gives him the food and looks in his eyes, then he immediately pulls out the phone, throws it away, and orders it destroyed. Perhaps she knows Hutch can't be trusted?

She just really likes chips. If you go back to the episode where we first see Chantal, her motel room has empty bags of chips scattered all over the room. There was junk food everywhere.

@GameSpotUniverse I think the red ballons are represented by the red circle figure drawn on the paper left by Major Briggs. These red balloons may symbolise the protection that Dougie seems to benefit (won 30 jackpots, escaped 3 murder attempts, and maybe more) as he is a pure soul.

There are actually 3 "COOPER" on the paper left by Major Briggs. This paper is seen in the original series and comes from Listening Post Alpha.

YES! Indeed!
@liviurebreanu3887 жыл бұрын
Yes but the third "COOPER" is cut and it only said "CO" probably because the third Cooper was Dougie Jones but he is dead and was replaced by Good Cooper so now there are only 2 Coopers (Good Cooper and Bad Cooper).

Didn't see if anyone else raised this in the comments, but could it be that the numbers that Hastings and Davenport told Major Briggs were the 253 he put in the piece of paper he left for Booby and the others? And those are the "coordinates" that Cooper/Bob is hoping to get from Ray? Also, the papers showed a couple of planets/moons -- would this be related to a specific moment in time when Jupiter and Saturn meet to open the door to the waiting room (and/or the lodges) like in the final episodes of the second season?

sorry if someone said already this but: Hastings wrote 9/20 Sheriff Truman read 10/1 10/2 and said it was a couple of days from that day, meaning he was probably at 9/29 (or 28?) maybe this storylines are not happening at the same time. and maybe they are 9 days apart. and we have 9 apisodes ahead.

The text Mr C sent was in lower case, whereas the one Dianne received was in all caps. Unless it's an oversight, this implies that Dianne is working with someone associated with Mr C, who is relaying the message. This could mean that Dianne is in on it OR that she is getting information from an insider and working against Mr C.

I wonder if it wasn't the Black Lodge that messed up Dale's head, but the actual socket-thing that helped him transfer back to the "real world." Because in the Black Lodge scenes back in episode 2 and 3, he seems relatively coherent of his situation. It wasn't until he started hitting that electrical current thing in the room with the blind woman that we got the sort of dazed look in his eyes. Does that mean there's hope he'll wake up with another "shock" of some kind? Maybe i'm just grasping at straws because I want him to wake up already!
@lizbajjalieh98417 жыл бұрын
Which also begs the question, what WAS the electrical current thing? Does it have anything to do with the device we saw in the Giant's 'house' and outside the room in 'non-existence'?

Diane's nail colors match the black, white, and red color schemes of the black lodge. also her green outfit matches the morgue's couch she's sitting on perfectly. even the yellow American spirits and red purse match the stripes in that outfit. matching the black lodge and morgue seems like a bad omen.

given that lynch and frost would have anticipated the massive Internet analysis and discussion (particularly reddit and youtube) does anyone feel like a large number of postings "you saw it here first" revelations could be scheduled by them as part of the experience? ie bill hastings site has made it into our reality could other messages be "sent" from the twin peaks universe to guide us and shape the discussion and understanding of that universe? the twin peaks meta experience in print, music, Internet, television and quantum physics

This just made me think of something very strange discovered by a redditor after Episode 8. That weird poem the Woodsman says over the radio about "This is the water and this is the well." It was found on only one website, at the bottom of a message board emedded in the site, and it was put there BEFORE the episode ever aired. It was EXTREMELY odd, very X-files-esque.

TheNozzle brilliant! I think we may find other easter eggs like that everywhere over time, and maybe we should be hunting down dialogue in real time as it airs to find out where it exists before. these sites might end up holding other clues - possibly even messages hidden in their code. i want to know what's at those coordinates!

I still think the key to getting Dale back to normal is his shoes. The camera focuses on Dale leaving his shoes behind not the mauve room, and Duggie entering the red room without his shoes. Dale later is then fixated with the statue's shoes. Now the camera pans between the heels and the outlet. I'm convinced he needs his shoes back to regain his mental facilities.
@victoriamiller48737 жыл бұрын
Per your Easter Eggs about things that are Red, you totally missed Diane's shoes were Red. Since Dale Cooper and Diane were so close in the original seasons, maybe that's why the Red High Heels captured Dougie's attention. You can see Diane's shoes when she is sitting down about to light her cigarette at the Morgue.

Hello! Maybe I made a mistake, but did anyone notice the dates? When Sheriff Truman is reading the piece of paper, 2 dates are written: 10/1 and 10/2, and he says something like "it's 2 days from now". That means that we're on the 9/29. And when Hastings in signing on the Major's picture, he writes 9/20.... Also, is anyone else wondering why Andy is buying a chair, instead of looking for the guy who caused the death of a child in the hit and run? Or for the guy who owned the truck? I found that very weird.
@johnsperry94947 жыл бұрын
It seems to me that episodes 1 through 7 presented the main plot lines, then Episode 8 was like an intermission, totally deviating from the main plots with historical background, and now episode 9 returns to the main plot lines again. Nothing like episode 8 will happen again. Anyone who expected a continuation of episode 8 (other than the Mr. C. plot) was way off. One thing I wanted to point out about Dougie: In the Dougie character, Cooper is displaying all the classic symptoms of a major case of amnesia, probably caused by the transition through the electric outlets. In his current state, he has full adult cognition, but is otherwise absent of any previous memories, and is at the developmental level of a one-year-old. Children of that age have a surprisingly large recognition vocabulary, and understand what people are saying, but cannot vocalize beyond one or two syllables, and then only repeating back what they hear other people say. Although it is rather cliche, I think a subsequent blow to the head or other traumatic event is what will snap him out of the amnesia.
