RNDblackout no i'm not kidding, and i highly doubt your brother plays like that. i'm not saying playing left handed like kurt cobain or jimi hendrix is pretentious. when hendrix took a normal right handed guitar and played it the other way, he had to string the guitar differently so that i he play normally. the guy in this video didn't restring the guitar, he's playing everything upside down. the bottom string (E string) should be skinny, not thick... the string order from thick to thin strings is EADGBE, but he's playing skinny to thick so it's EBGDAE. That's why i think it's pretentious. he's not playing the guitar even remotely how it was designed to be play. he has to play chords in weird ways

queerp it's not really too uncommon.. I played my bass and guitar that way because it's how I learned and how I felt most comfortable. Growing up, one of the high-schools I attended did not have enough funding for the growing rate of left handed children present. There weren't enough lefty-guitars. Thus, I had to learn to play and tune on a standard. Not saying it's the right way, but people do have their preferences, even if it doesn't match those of others.

***** i think that's dumb for both, but more dumb for guitar. you really limit yourself. there definitely plenty of guitar chords that you can't play upside down. it's different with a bass though, cos you usually don't do chords and when you do, it's usually just two strings, so although i think it's dumb for both, it's less stupid to play bass upside down.
