this is a bad ass bike, the engineering behind building this bike is amazing, it's amazing how many people are worried about how much smoke comes out of it, like because of this bike the earth is going to die, first off I doubt you ride this every day, if you do the lil bit of smoke is a hell of a lot less than one big rig crossing the country let alone just going across town, they can't think of any legitimate thing to complain about with the bike so they bitch about the smoke which is something that can be fixed, still a bad ass bike
@ewentling8 жыл бұрын
First, awesome job! Really outside the box thinking. Second, I own a pre-emissions diesel truck with a tuner so I'm no stranger to rolling coal but it usually clears up once the turbo spools. I'm not an expert on diesels & turbos but I think you might have it over-turbo'd. If you cut it back to a single, or found 2 really tiny turbos, you might clean it up a bit. Roll all the coal you want at the stop light but at running speed, you should be clear(ish). Hell, old tractors didn't smoke that much under load and they did a lot more work than your asking this engine to do. Don't take me wrong, not bashing it or complaining about environment, blah blah blah. Only offering up a suggestion.
@dozer16429 жыл бұрын
As I watched your video I cringed to think about the comment section. So many keyboard fabricators foaming their opinions about how you did this wrong or change that or you are killing baby seals with the smoke or it's not safe, blah blah wine blah. I'm surprised by moderate level of intelligence here though. You built this. From scratch. In your own shop, With your own hands, using your own brain. It's wonderful and it's something that 99.9% of the trolls on KZbin could NEVER accomplish. Very well done sir.
@El_Chompo9 жыл бұрын
+dozer1642 But couldn't it run 95% less smoke if the engine was simply tuned properly? The only time they do that is when they are spraying in way too much fuel to burn completely. Maybe he needs it to have enough power I guess. He should put on a bigger turbo.
@dozer16429 жыл бұрын
+sirgallium my best guess (from a 4:54 minute clip) as to why the engine smokes the way it does is merely because its operating under heavy load all of the time. Fabricating something like this isn't a science. It's art. The fact that the engine chosen makes the darn thing go down the street at a moderate pace is a stunning success. It smokes a hell of a lot less than the ten dodge trucks with the 8" stacks that the high school kids in my town cranked up the pumps on just to be obnoxious. It's one man and his unique creation. God bless him.
@El_Chompo9 жыл бұрын

+dozer1642 The black smoke may look cool, but is a sign of incomplete combustion... so the engine doesn't run properly, at least not in this video. Seems like it's still a work in progress though.
@ziiofswe9 жыл бұрын
+sirgallium ...Or smaller turbos? Maybe it's too low engine rpm so they don't spool up to their intended rpm. (I have no idea if this model of turbo is considered "small", "medium" or "large"... He also has two of them, perhaps going down to one would do the trick? (Just brainstorming a little.)
@anubis11009 жыл бұрын
he deffinitly needs a better pump for the hydrostatic drive so he can get more speed and takeoff. and he needs to fix the excessive smoking habit of the engine. but other then that, its one absolutely awesome bike, i love it.

Interesting setup with "clutch" and "brake", I like it! BTW since it is single speed have you thought about adding a 2nd speed by dropping to one wheel drive by cutting flow to front wheel while allowing it to recirculate so that all the flow would go to the rear doubling the speed? The smoke is WAY excessive, it looks like it interfers with driving...
@choppertown9 жыл бұрын
work in progress :)
@aronhtgmail9 жыл бұрын
+Choppertown yep a solid tune to get the smoke down an then it will be pretty cool. my only concern is the air ride system. if air pressure is lost while above 20 mph, isn't the frame going to drop and said rider is going to go flying with possible injury or death? air ride bikes don't lay on the ground because of this.
@roomwithapointofview9 жыл бұрын
+Choppertown What about some kind of a safety catch, I'm thinking a dog, like used on hoists, that would kick out, if you lost air. Like what would happen if a truck using air brakes lost it's air, the brakes would apply. Then the only issue is how do you keep the bike from falling over when you stop. For the smoke issue. Run straight biodiesel made from recycled cooking oil, and then the issue would become walking around smelling like a french fry. lol. But what about two pipes side by side out to the back, cover them with heat shield and make them look like the rear bombers guns. Cool bike though.

Love this build. As much weight as that has it still pulls and actually rides great. my first thoughts? In another video he stated they were just regular car steel wheels. Of you took a small Hatchback or a Mini even, you could probably do away with everything in the driveline except the engine. remove all the weight. place the engine in the middle, run your hydraulic pump off it and run them wheel motors on all 4 corners. or keep engine up front and FWD. It's just running the hoses, could even AWD it with the engine still up front. My point is you could loose tons of weight. not sure how fast the gears can drive tho, but maybe for a tight autocross track or even a city DD. They already have concepts out just much more advanced then that

China called, couldn't understand much of what they were saying. Something about knowing nothing about choking, as I could gather through the coughing. Diesel powers your world, it allows you to complain about these things. Semis haul freight all over the world, they do it because they can generate the power, as gasoline can't. Trains can move 12,000 tons of freight, namely the coal that is used to power your home, and everything in it. Container ships carrying goods from around the world can haul more than twice that of the trains. Diesel propels them across the miles of ocean. So, you want to hate on diesel? You better take a close look at the world you're sitting in. Your computer's hardware, your lights, electricity, clothing, toys, the very chair you sit on... So much of what you have now, is thanks in some part to diesel.

@wolf4328 жыл бұрын
Both black and white smoke mean unburnt fuel. Black smoke means an imbalance of air to fuel but the most common issue is too much fuel (unburnt). Yes I can give it to you that it can be too much air not enough fuel but in most cases its not especially how it was running. The black smoke is full of particulates that are basically large diesel particles that normally would be burned as fuel. White smoke means it as well is not being burnt properly with low engine compression, water in the fuel, fuel pump timing being off a whole slew of things both ways. I was just trying to let you know something but now you're being a keyboard warrior so this is all I'm gonna say you can say whatever you want after this these are the facts search it up anywhere. Also unbeknownst to you since your statement is showing you know nothing about me I also have been around all types of vehicles all my life.

I think that the diesel engine is over fueled . Man, talk about, "rolling coal" a real carbon footprint! :-)

Beautiful piece of engineering the creator of this fantastic machine has amazing skill and knowledge as well as imagination...big respect...thanks for sharing...we only evolve with minds like these!!

I wish I had the time to build such a creation.. One thing I would suggest is going with a Danfoss (Sauer) variable displacement pump with a bent axis (piston) motor. Sizing is of utmost importance. Remember 1HP will get you 1GPM at 1500 PSI. So you have to balance the cc's of your components to get the maximum torque and speed with the available HP. Also, with a variable pump you can use that as a brake instead of restricting your return flow. Restrictions create heat... heat is bad..

I'm not sure why but you may want to let those exhaust pipes go a little bit further back
@justice19527 жыл бұрын
the driver must smell like exhaust , I'm hoping he extends the pipes further behind him, maybe he will create something interesting with the exhaust system

Give me a reason to come back to 2024 Sturgis! I would come to see this amazing machine! Need a kickstarter to build and market something like this.

Hey man I totally dig the bike, the design, the theme and just the creativity. The only thing that has me scratching my head is the smoke inhalation. I can't imagine that is healthy for you. I'd say push the pipes back just a little further. Other than that awesome bike man!!

pedestrians, enjoy inhaling that healthy looking black cloud...

that's gotta be an unpleasant ride with all that diesel smoke chiefing you out all the way up to your helmet ehhh I'll ride it 4 miles before I can't take the smoke lol other than that a sick ass bike

he's still perfecting it for street ;)

Yeah of course man you always find things you wanna change And tweak on you're builds.

if a diesel engine works well, does not pull the light gray smoke. The fuel does not burn well. sorry for my english haha

build a better one then.

why don't you build a better one bro

Love the concept dude! But for some reason smelling like a 2 Stroke Diesel an looking like something from hell with all that smoke that's awesome!

Well to me it's a great work and I admire tenacity of people to create such unusual inventions, but also it's a retarded way to show everyone else, that you don't care about other people. Such a nice area and covered by terrible smoke, just for the individual pleasure.

bike looks amazing! But don't u really give a fuck about polution in the u.s.? i think u should...

This is so incredibly stupid. I mean congrats for having the skill to build it, but what a useless death trap. If the smoke doesn't kill you that monstrosity will when it causes you to wreck.
