TWIN TURBO VS NITROUS! "MR. NASTY" '69 CUDA VS "SHAKE RATTLE & RUN" '57 CHEVY! RT66 CLASSIC '15!

Talk about two totally different approaches to making power in a drag race matchup! Bill Houghton is his '69 'Cuda, aptly named "Mr Nasty" powered by a fresh, 521ci Mopar Hemi that required to front half the car in order to get it to fit, sporting twin turbos, and running drag radials matches up against the well known Messino & Sons "Shake Rattle & Run" 1900hp 633ci Nitrous fed, big tire '57 Chevy. Bill only with his 6th pass with the new combo and first time getting the car to stick comes on strong with a 6.76@188.17mph as Shake Rattle & Run gets a great launch but shuts down early and still runs 7.54@143.38mph. The '57 has been in the 6's and over 200mph as has Bill with an older setup running 6.76@218.69mph! I would love to see a rematch when both cars are at the top of their game! RT66 Classic 8-15-15

No comparison when you're going against a Hemi, and to top it off lets ask," how often does the nitrous motor have to change out pistons compared to the turbo motor? When I ran nitrous i would get 10-15 runs with a 3 stage 600h.p. per kit, went to turbo setup and have the same combo last 30-35 passes maybe more or less depening on how hard we push the setup and how often and only thing we're changing are conn.rods,pistons maybe bearings depending on wear tolerances.

That’s your problem you ran a staged system I ran a single stage 500HP I ran my pistons for years I never had a piston *( was using TRW flat top forged pistons )* break, crack or go bad on me but I also ran a carburetor which makes a difference EFI leans out too easy and NoS backfires which is probably what was happening to you it usually happens between stages, staged systems are the worst NoS systems you can run and didn’t even exist before that stupid ass fast and furious movie that’s why they only work some of the time they came from fantasy before that movie it was all single stage systems, keep it simple stupid more stages more problems

@@shorty808100 I ran both started out with a twin Book racing 2.80" throttle bore Dominator carb setup and when I switched over to a Holley Dominator EFI setup with twin Accufab 9500 throttle bodies it ran better was easier to tune and was more consistant. I wasn't just running 600h.p. worth of NOS "I would never be competitive in my class if I ran 3 stages at 200h.p. per stage" I ran 3 stages at 600h.p. per stage and they could be jetted up to 800h.p. per if need be but regulations hold it back.I'm not a bracket racer running a nitrous kit.You take your pick blower,turbo or NOS for our class and a 500h.p. single stage kit isnt going to cut it unless you can get 245-260mph out of it in 1/4 mile."So no that wasn't my problem" and I'm not saying I was top NOS tuner but we learned a lot from Musi and checked volumetric cylinder pressures before and after full engagment to check for cylinder over saturation which is #1 cause for NOS failures.

This is apples and oranges. The chevy is naturally aspirated, the hemi is supercharged. Halfway down the track that hemi is probably turned into a thousand plus cubic inches. The chevy sure spanked the hemi off the line, plus that chevy usually runs in the sixes.
