Twinkle Khanna's budget-friendly decor ideas for your spare room

In the second episode of our DIY design series, Spacelift, our founder Twinkle Khanna puts her hard hat back on to transform a spare room a.k.a the dumping ground of your house into a stunning yet efficient guest room.
You’ll see just how much difference a simple sofa cum bed, a few cushions and throws, a few scented candles and some wall decor can make to transform your spare room into a functional space for your guests who show up on short notice.

Hello, poochne ke liye shukriya. Is video mein aap dekenge anek tips jo middle-class ghar ke liye uchit hain. Humne money plant ki cutting purane kaanch ki botalon me dala hai jo humare ghar mein the. Dewar pe tange basket India mein bane hain aur aap usko online khareed sakte hai. Aur yeh kai local handicraft ki dukaano mein bhi milte hain. Video mein jo sofa cum bed hai, voh online mil sakta hai, ya aap carpenter se bhi banwa sakte hain, jaise humne kiya tha. Organic agarbatti aur scented candles aasani se apko online or kai dukaanon mein mil jayengi.

I think many of the things here were quite impractical.Such large showpieces evrywhr, including the workstation.In real , one has extended desktop , keyboard n mouse so there is no scope of keeping such large candle holders.The side tables are used to keep water bottles, cups , remotes etc..

I really like your decor videos but personally this one of yours is not appealing as the showpieces you have used like a scary cracked statue, a lizard on the centre table in which you have kept the flower petals, some cockroaches ,those big candles and those printed cushion covers are giving a negative vibe. You are so down to earth and its refreshing ..I was also in kodai with your aunt though she was 2 years my senior but I was placed in her dorm when they were full in the junior wing and needed beds for newcomers. I remember her so vividly the chocolate's she had in her cupboard her small record player for dancing .. her talking about your mom joining movies and she being angry hearing this news hahahah .. I was in class 6 and she was in class 8 ..it was 1972 if I remember correctly. She was known as Kumple Kapadia then xox

This is such poor design- totally impractical. You have small tables with giant statues on a pedestal, faux bugs on the table, wild eyed woman on the cushions, candles with glass urns, books that appeal to you, a giant blue vase with flowers- again on a ridiculously small table and on and on. There’s no bedside lamp, no place for a carafe of water, no magazines( not everyone wants to read a whole book in one day)no basket with something to munch on if your visitor needs a late night snack. Disappointing Twinkle- I expected better.

Good try but very western. Rooms in Western homes look so much the same that they look boring. Why not we decorate our rooms and houses showcasing our rich culture and colours making them interesting and colourful. Use agarbatti, lamps, floor cushions/ seating, handmade decor etc etc.
