She loves her grandkids but I think she wanted a whole different life for me. Admittedly I was young and not ready, but to never get to experience this kid of joy is kinda crappy

Well, you are all in for one hell of a wild ride....... We have identical (and I mean IDENTICAL) girls, well they're 20 now, driven me nuts for 2 decades (much to my wife's amusement). Answering each others names, finishing sentences for each other, Their first passport was an experience (thought we were trying to get 2 documents for 1 person), same with driving tests (had to sit them at the same time in 2 different test departments) - - - - - - and let's just not mention clothes!!!!! Still, I wouldn't change one minute, been highs and lows, but it's been more laughs and great times........... There is one way to tell them apart, open a bottle of tomato ketchup and whoever starts to look sick is Nicola (12 minutes younger), Lyndsey will just eat it. I'm 58, look 68, feel 78, and I've given up drinking - - - - - had to, saving up for 2 weddings (hopefully soon!!!!)

Check if there is a twin research lab nearby, you get a bunch of medical tests for free, expenses and they get to help mankind. Bro and I been doing this in London for about twenty years now.
