I've had epilepsy since I was 11. When I was 19 and found out I was pregnant with oldest son, the doctor's told me there was a chance that my child would have spinal bifida. I kept my faith and prayed. He is 29 and not a problem.! The same risk was when I found out I was pregnant with my youngest son and I prayed. The good Lord blessed me with two fine young men! I am one appreciative person who also keeps faith, giving thanks. Always remember that God has a plan.❤

Why would epilepsy cause spina bifida. It is caused by lack if vitamins B12. I knew a mom with three girls with epilepsy and was never told this and they were perfect.

I disagree with that one doctor, that sacrificing one twin to separate them is the only option. There are plenty of cases of conjoined twins that live long, happy lives. It may look different than a "typical" child's life and it may not be as "normal" as if they were separated but it can be done. I understand parents making that decision and the benefits that could come from it but I also understand the parents that aren't willing to make that sacrifice and I don't think they're wrong for making it. Look at Abby and Brittany, separation wasn't even an option and they've gone on to drive, get their teaching degrees, good jobs and one of them is now married. They've had a very happy life so far. Not being separated is not a guarantee they won't live happy lives.

I'm not saying it's the case because this is really difficult. Both ethically and morally. And emotionally. But there's a not insignificant part of me that says, it's it not better to give the one twin a better life. Even if it means the sacrifice of one. But then i also think twins (of any kind. Not just conjoined.) Have a very special bond. More than other relational bonds. Like there's so many stories. Knowing the other one is on trouble, creating their Iran language only they can speak, communicating over distance (without technology), one twin dying in the NICU into the other healthy twin is put in the incubator thingy with her. Things like that as a few examples Maybe it's not relevant but i think that the separation of such a bond would be awful (By separation i mean the sacrifice of one twin. Not just the physical separation) It's just an all round difficult situation and my heart goes out to them and the parents

I think it depends on the culture and country they are born. A small rural village in South Africa would be very different to a town in America. Very unfair but a cold hard reality.

@@jemjarvs In some places I am sure it would be harder than others but there are cases in third world countries and areas with superstitious beliefs where conjoined twins haven't had terrible lives. And, some have been granted the opportunity to migrate elsewhere because of their condition. Like I said, I can understand both decisions, I just don't agree that one or the other has to be the only option. I think the parents should be as informed as possible and then leave the decision up to them but don't push them in one direction or the other. The parents know where they live and how people with differences are treated, if they feel sacrificing one is the best option I understand it and if they think the hardships not separating them will bring is worth it to save both of them then let them make that decision without adding to their guilt.

@heather8518 firstly, the twins were born in a village in Tanzania and flown to Cape Town, South Africa for the surgery which is 2 separate counties on the CONTINENT of Africa. Secondly, we did not see all the diclscussions they had with the mom. Thirdly, living life like this in an undeveloped area like this is much more difficult than living in a developed or developing area.

I felt so sad. What a wonderful couple and parents. I cried. It makes me see how mundane every care in the world l have ever experienced seems to me now. I love the fact that they chose to baptize the beautiful twins. What compassionate folks these two are. God bless them both. The angels rejoiced when they received these babies in heaven. 3rd case, don't know if I heard tazanaia, looks to see if the babies spines are attached. By touching and eyes. Most hospitals use xray, mri mandatory, and CT scan. There is more than meets the eye.
