First saw VH in 1980 as support to Black Sabbath at Newcastle City Hall. What a concert that was...needless to say Ive been a VH fan ever since. My ears have never recovered
@mattjohn4731 Жыл бұрын
@@stephenwaller7461 The city hall has a rock venue? VH got around. On the cartoon South Park, Van Halen plays in Israel and helps end the Palestinian apartheid with their gnarly tunage 😝

The second concert I ever saw was this tour in 84 when I was a junior in high school ( 1st was Rush Signals tour). Eddie was incredible to see live.

"House of Pain" is my favorite off this album. Usually, young guys like you are more interested in the lyrics, more than the music. It was nice to hear you say the music matters more to you. I couldn't care less about lyrics most of the time. Some of my favorite songs don't even _HAVE_ lyrics. In fact, my all time favorite song doesn't have any lyrics: "Frankenstein" by The Edgar Winter Group. It was the first _ROCK_ instrumental to hit #1 on the Hot 100 music charts. "Hocus Pocus" by Focus is another great lyric-less song (it has vocals, just no lyrics), "Outta Space" by Billy Preston and "YYZ" by Rush are great instrumentals too. Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands b/c their song writing is so good. "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" is my second favorite by them, due mainly to the fact that for the first 8 minutes of the song, it's just music. _GREAT_ guitar playing (as usual) by David Gilmour.

First time seeing your channel love watching your video and to add to your comment. Yes, I’ve been playing this song drumless myself and if you try to sing along with the music, you would definitely be off Q with Mike and Eddie. Dave just singing the story. There is no beat to his vocals. I’m glad you guys pointed that out.

I remember my cousin buying this album and being so psyched. She played it for my siblings and I, and we were like “meh.” So songs like these and House of Pain are slow burns, but what you listen to 40 years later.

Ya. Those firse 6 albums are killer. Pretty much every song you'll like. Some lyrics are cheesy, but the music is just insane.

IMO, if you want the 2 best rockin songs on this album? Drop Dead Legs, and House of Pain. I agree with both of you, Jump, Panama, and Hot for Teacher are to poppy. Ide like to see you react to Drop Dead Legs.
@stevenkile8569 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for reacting to Drop Dead Legs. Sounds like both of you like fast beats and searing guitar. Might I suggest 3 songs? and maybe react to your favorite? Atomic Punk, Romeo Delight, or Loss of control. 3 songs with ALOT of energy!

You should react to Eleven Blue Egyptians by Jason Becker!🎸 Becker was one of the best shred guitarists/musicians of all time but his career was cut short after being diagnosed with ALS at just 22yrs old right after recording an album with David Lee Roth.

Nice reaction to a VH song that was new to me as well. Some off-the-cuff Classic Rock suggestions: "Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who (Studio version is prolly best) "Rock and Roll," from the 1973 MSG concert by Led Zeppelin. "Barracuda" by Heart. "Sympathy for the Devil," Rolling Stones. "White Rabbit," by Jefferson Airplane. "Hocus Pocus" by Focus. Live version "Whole Lotta Rosie" by AC/DC. "Helter Skelter" by The Beatles. If THESE don't make your playlist(s), then, sorry, I can't help ya!

You are sharing the same pair of earbuds???You do know that the first six Van Halen albums mixed by Donn Landee often has some of Ed’s guitar tracks panned to the left. Sometimes it is the main riff or intro. Which means the one wearing the right ear bud is not hearing it. Bizzare that you would split a pair of earbuds when listening to early VH.

What DLR is doing is an artistic vocal interpretation.........that type of lyricizing is done a lot in jazz....it's not meant, necessarily, to be precisely on beat with the music.......and rock is at LEAST as rebellious as jazz....so, there ya go.
