This hairstyle is great for holding back hair for gymnastics, dance, figure skating, sports, as well as an everyday style if you have a little girl with baby fine (thin) hair or short hair. You could finish this style with a ponytail, bun, pigtails, or by leaving the hair down.

Thank you for posting. My almost-2-year-old has long-ish hair for her age, so I'm always looking for new ways to style her hair. Can't wait to try this tomorrow morning. As for people asking how to get kids to sit still, it depends on the kid and the day. Some days she'll eat, color, or watch TV. Other days, I just have to work quickly and move with her head. You just have to find what works for you.

You know in the hairstyle called the stripe overlay braid instead of bringing in the first strand of hair at the top you can bring in the second then the first to create an x pattern instead of a striped pattern

I did this to my daighter yesterday but instead i braided the tails and when i got all her hair in the back i diveded in to three braids :) it looks very pretty..

Actually, we usually just cut them out or use a "seam ripper" and break them when we are done with the hairstyle. They are pretty cheap, so I don't feel too bad about not reusing them. ;)

I love to do these unique hairstyles on my niece!! She's 11months old and I'm surprised she sits through it all lol. I will definitely have to try this one! Can you please make more videos that don't include any brading since I'm not very good at it, and that will stay through the day because my daughter goes to school and she runs a lot there and I'm so bored of making just ponytails on her. The brand we usually use is "goody ouchless." They typically only last for one hairstyle, but I haven't had much trouble with them breaking. Good luck!
