The State Of Twisted Metal video on David Jaffe's video might a chance to convince him to remaster or make a sequel.

@@MAGNUSWAKERS David Jaffe has zero control over that. He doesn't own the game. He has said he would love to see another Twisted Metal in some fashion, but doesn't see it being very likely in today's game market.

Wow ! That was very interesting, the Hong Kong napalm bombing boats could have been very cool if it was in the final game ! Also its a great thing they fixed those botchy death plains in NY and Antarctica. It would have made those levels way harder.

Even in the final version, you need to be playing tournament to see the codes in the Louvre. Also, (I tried this in Deathmatch) if you die in N.Y's pool, you will respawn with your car looking like it does underwater (bluei-sh), it's pretty noticeable with Spectre.

Originally, New York would of been the last level in Twisted Metal 2 instead of Hong Kong, and my idea was that you would of fought Dark Tooth on the roofs, and after that you would of met Calypso on the same roof tops, but the final level and boss was changed to Hong Kong, and you still fight Dark Tooth, but after that, you go back to new york to see Calypso

When I was small, I swore I remember seeing someone fight Dark Tooth on the rooftops. A dream, my imagination, i'm not sure, but that most definitely rings a bell
@jeremyriley12383 жыл бұрын
It could be true. Although I wonder how the boss fight would work on the New York stage giving Dark Tooth's size. Also, I heard Darkside was originally planned to be another boss in this game, so maybe he was planned to be the boss of New York City, but when the vehicle got cut, they decided to make Hong Kong the final level.

At the 6 minute mark, the name of the stage is misspelled as "Amizonia".

Just a friendly tip, you can type the numerals inside your comment like this (with/without the quotation marks) "6:00", it should look like this 6:00 or "6:00" and direct to your point right away making it easier to illustrate your point visually.

An interesting video. One thing left out is Dark Tooth. It's no real big change, but from what I saw in another video, rather than you get any dialogue about what he is; the game just asks you "How about a little ice cream?" in the old twisted metal 1 font and the battle starts after it loads.

Never knew there was a train ride bonus or a code on the subways in the final game, and I can't seem to find anything online about it. Guess I'll have to look for myself next time I play the game.

Fantastic video. A bit too drawn out in places but informative never the less. The Hong Kong bombardment from the boats was hands down my favorite. Baffling they didn't leave that in because that'd just be awesome.

Interesting video. Perhaps a side-by-side comparison would have been helpful, though. Also, some points don't need to be dragged on for so long, e.g. the windmill blades have collision, we get it, you don't need to show it for like a full minute.
@Kaitos116 жыл бұрын
The boats in Hong Kong would've been a very nice touch. IIRC, only TM1 had something other than AI vehicles trying to hurt you with those shitty peds. From what I'm seeing, I can sort of guess why they removed them from the final version. It's either because: 1) they look ugly as fuck, 2) the napalms keep falling endless into the water or 3) because it would've sucked for the player to die due to some random napalm....especially against Dark Tooth.

There's just something very "Twisted Metal" about 2 that no other game in the series could ever accomplish. Not even Black, which was nothing more than a cop-out that was styled the way it was to capitalise on the Rob Zombie grindhouse hype of the early 00s. It sucked and the presentation was just an edgelord's wetdream. That whole "illegally sanctioned death derby" feeling of the first and second games was immediately lost from Twisted Metal 3 onwards. And I loved Twisted Metal 3 but 3 and every other game following it, just don't have that same, surreal feeling of the initial tone that the first two games set. Every other Twisted Metal feels like either a drug-induced fever dream or an action movie production. And I'm not drawing these comparisons amicably or kindly. I mean this in the most critical way possible. Black was made overly dark and bleak not just in setting but in style and it was never necessary to 'fix' the 'problem', because all they did to stop a house from burning was by dropping a wrecking ball ontop of it. Taking away the colorful world of Twisted Metal wasn't what was needed to ground it, the developers simply needed to stick to their guns with 1 and 2's presentation. You don't need dark graphics and edgey, over-the-top redesigns to have a dark, edgey game and I don't care what anybody has to say about this: Twisted Metal Black killed the franchise due to identity crisis. It also plays like ass. Cool on paper, though. Edit: Just wanted to add, I never played TM1 but I've recently watched a run through the campaign mode. Stage 1 being a 1-on-1 in an audience-filled arena to one of the future stages being a literal neighborhood in the suburbs with Stucco houses and white picket fences is one of the darkest things I've ever seen. Just the idea of Calypso saying "here!" pointing his finger on a map of North America and deciding the next match of the tournament could literally be happening in someone's backyard and possibly crashing through the side of the house, or shooting its way through your windows into your home is just horrifyingly sublime. In a game where a murder clown drives an ice cream truck as his derby vehicle of choice. I'm honestly surprised Twisted Metal 1 didn't get hit by parents like Mortal Kombat or Grand Theft Auto did in the early 90s for that stage alone. I think Twisted Metal 1 was probably one playable ambulance away from being censored or cancelled outright. It's just a DARK game, despite its colorful palette. Twisted Metal 2 improved on this as well, letting its stages tell an f'ed up story that you didn't need an explanation for, unlike Twisted Metal 3 where one was given by Calypso at the start of every match to get you immersed. 1 and 2 didn't need that. Twisted Metal 3 by design, had ONE badass 'Twisted Metal-y' stage and it was Washington. Great setting, horrible map. Most of the maps in TM3 stunk and I played this game with a passion as a kid. Edit: small grammatical error.
