The second game was like a fleet of Avon ladies trying to hunt down a tornado. Fearing tornados is a very reasonable thing, I've lived in an area with quite a few my whole life and they cause a lot of destruction. They are oddly beautiful though, the skies can look wild too. Currently clearing a tree off my lawn from one two days ago, lol.
@chimerakait3 ай бұрын
The red and green you were chasing is NOT two storm systems, but wind volocity around the location of a radar tower tracking wind direction. Green is toward the tower and red is away, vice versa. What you are looking for is iregularities outside where the known tower is. Use all the modes of your radar to collaborate potential storm position.
@danbarnard97853 ай бұрын
For what it's worth, hiding under an overpass is generally NOT a good idea (I get that he's referencing Twister, not trying to shit on Chilled and the gang having fun). Wind gets compressed when passing below the overpass, resulting in higher wind velocity which could in turn cause the bridge to fail by lifting it off the supports or causing increased stresses in the bridge deck itself (think of heavy trucks passing by as you wait at a light on a bridge...that bouncing you feel on the deck, amplify that a significant amount for a longer duration). That's not to mention all the glass, sand, and other smaller debris getting kicked under the overpass. You're better lying flat in a ditch or other lower terrain if caught out in the open.

23:53 Tornadoes are classified based on damage. It's technically wind speed, but it's really hard to get an accurate measurement, so a damage survey is usually done to calculate a potential windspeed. This can lead to massive tornadoes having a mid to low ranking. For example, the largest tornado ever recorded (the 2013 El Reno) was 2.6 miles wide, but only an EF3 because the fastest verifiable windspeed was only around 150 mph, although the storm likely had winds over 300 mph. The fastes tornado on record, however, was the 1999 F5 Bridge Creek-Moore tornado that had recorded windspeeds of around 320 mph. Storms are typically ranked from EF0 (being little to no observable damage) to EF5 (being total destruction to the point that the ground and even the road may be damaged).

EF0 would be minimal to no damage(shingles pulled off, trees uprooted, parts of the roof rolled up, etc) EF1s are moderate damage as they can rip off chunks of your roof, break your windows, rip off doors, and overturn mobile homes.
@TheMNWolf3 ай бұрын
To identify a tornado you want to use both Maps. Velocity shows you how fast the rain is moving towards or away from the radar station. So you want reflectivity showing purple or white and you want velocity to have a really hard transition between vibrant red and vibrant green in the same spot. That's your rotation.
