You do know the same argument can be applied the other way around, right? This game has good QoL changes and some not so great cuts and censorship. Both are true and neither are taking away from the other existing. You can take the good with the bad you know.

For as fun as the remaster was, I do put a lot of that on the fact that the Dead Rising formula is just infectiously fun. It's such a shame that the series remained dormant after how bad DR4 was (and how mixed DR3 was initially, though I think a lot of ppl have softened up to it). I'd still argue the original version (which the 2016 remaster is like $10 on Steam, it's stupid cheap) is the "true" experience, but I can definitely see diehard fans or DR newbies wanting to go w/ this version instead Kinda makes sense why they stuck with calling it a "Deluxe Remaster" instead of a Remake, because outside of some much-needed QoL improvements, some cool additions (Otis & survivor VA), and a handful of cool twists (i.e. not having to kill Thomas), and some noticeable exclusions (whether it be something ultimately inconsequential like erotica PP, versus something fairly noticeable like the new VAs - you can blame that on Capcom refusing to work with Union VAs now), it really is just a shinier version of the original game I kind of wish it was more of a remake as a result, since there are def some things they could've switched up (akin to RE 1 or 4 remake) and played around with the formula, but I imagine they didn't want to dump a TON of money into a franchise that has been out of commission, and weren't sure how it'd perform. Explains too why it was outsourced to so many Chinese developers (which in turn may also explain a number of the changes that did happen, whether it be something needed like Larry looking less stereotypically offensive, or something unneeded like Cliff's dialogue changes, along with a couple of other changes that have been noticed) Still, I at the very least hope this means more people get to experience and get interested in DR, whether that be through this game or original. Cause DR is definitely a series that I want to see make a grand return, especially with all of the possibilities for the formula that haven't been explored yet

Achievements don't track? That's okay, I wasn't gonna buy this due to them shafting Frank's OG voice actor anyway. New guy sucks. I'm sure he's a nice fella, but that's not Frank West's fuckin' voice. Ain't the first time they've done that. Won't be the last. Doesn't sit well with me any time it happens, though. Hell, I'm still grumpy about them ditching the old RE voice actors for REmake2 onward.

Haven't watched the VoD yet but wanted to see if you made it to Kent in time. 6:21:37 So I did the bomb disposal first and came back to do this fight around 12:45pm and discovered there's a completely different boss fight where he chains you to the fountain and you have to fight him barehanded. I'd never seen it when I did the 360/ps4 completions so that's cool. the fight was too hard though so I loaded an earlier save lol

I'm at about 1:40:00 rn, but here's the two things I have to say rn. 1) Someday Ray will know the difference between a remake and a remaster, right? This game kinda straddles the line from what I've seen/read, though, so it's less about this game in particular and more about the concepts at large. 2) The new voices are so off-putting and it's the only thing about this game that feels wrong. This includes what I read about the Vietnam veteran's dialogue being changed to exclude any reference to his time in the war, which I haven't experienced in the video yet but that feels like an unnecessary change.
