Yeah. But people who doesn't know how to bind their keys are the only ones who believe the "3 key bind". As you say you can bind only two times the same action. In this case, edit. And reset is just another action that you can play with.

To explain them. The first edit bind is to enter the edit, the second one is to confirm your edit and the third edit is the common scrollwheel reset. To tell you how its better. Simply said, its quicker pressing two different buttons than pressing the same button twice. But to actually be quicker with it, you have to use 2 different fingers for your edit and confirm keys otherwise using the same finger for both isnt making you quicker and is essentially useless. For example random keys which could make you quicker depending on the speed you move your mouse to create the edit you want. Q - Enter Edit - Ringfinger ; E - Confirm Edit - Pointing Finger.
