Privatizing would make it where it's more of his "standards" of free speech not having to rely or consult a board for certain issues, take that as you will (by his standards it sounds good with his more law focused stance to me atleast) The subscription service isn't for the site as a whole but is to get verified on the app (you pay and get a blue check and some extra features) the site as a whole will still be free and probably stay the same for 75% of people.

It was already private, genius. A publicly traded corporation is privately owned by its shareholders. In the case of Twitter, according to Jack, it was subject to a hostile takeover by Paul Singers' company, which meant that Twitter would moderate content according to whatever Singer wanted. See how the world looks different when you actually pay attention to things? Maybe you should try that sometime. And what is your argument anyway? "These guys don't believe in free speech!" cries person who doesn't believe in free speech. This isn't exactly the knockout argument you seem to imagine it is. Don't ever post anything on the internet ever again. It's a waste of everybody's time. Thank you and have a wonderful day.

I have about 1200 followers. I ask because I know that you have recently started to blow up on KZbin so as you have grown in reach has the app become more of a hellscape for you, or has it ALWAYS been a nightmare? Im genuinely curious because most people I know that still like twitter have smaller more manageable accounts. Just curious. Cheers, and brava on the hilarious content! You have seriously been a joy to discover! ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️

I think that when your smaller, the algorithms don't show your stuff to as many random people so you can curate your experience more. when you get more popular, algorithms push your tweets to more random people who don't get it. Also, maybe your posts arent as inflammatory, and the most controversial tweets tend to be pushed by their algorithms? tldr: i think it's all the algorithms pushing the buttons of the angriest people on the app that makes it such a hellscape

Being open source is a big deal, but I highly doubt they will show everything. If anything they will use it as a way to get people to work for free on their code.
@vaishnavisingh92442 жыл бұрын
Open source is generally made with public intrest, you can't really monetize Open Source as much as non-Open Source, it pays a lot less. Please give the devs some credit, most devs who write for free do it out of a passion project, they know the value of their skill so it's harder to con them into doing shit for free unless they are intrested in it. As a person who does want to get into tech, I think Open Source is the only viable solution to big cooperations getting unlimited power and control over people.
@1Henrink2 жыл бұрын
@@vaishnavisingh9244 Yes you are correct about people writing code for open source do it for passion. I adore that and fully support truly open-source code. What I'm saying is that most open-source programs are non profitable, like GIMP for example. People make things for the program to help the community. In the other hand Twitter as a platform is not made with the public in mind, it usually pushes people to be in a bubble , so they can see more of what they like and therefore spending more time in it. So think of how one of the first moves they are doing is making it private, so people can't invest in it. Devs that do things for love don't need a return, but they are gonna let people code for Twitter , but they will pic and choose what will be integrated for the main public. Again Twitter is not like GIMP or stuff like that, it's a huge company that even deal with political power so it's hard for me to see it really showing it's full code in a open-source way, but instead showing what can be easily customized so people can produce for them, without needing their spendings. You see what I mean? (Sorry for the long comment)

I use KZbin and Pinterest mainly, Reddit when I need something and I might only find it there, and Tumblr exclusively for custom content for The Sims 4. Honestly it feels like all I need. i left twitter roughly two years ago and tbh that's probably the best decision i ever made for my mental health. i then went from being somewhat on instagram to thoroughly on instagram, and eventually reduced even that to occasionally shitposting and looking for tattoo inspiration on the explore page of an account which i have curated to have exclusively tattoos on the explore page lol. now i'm just on youtube constantly but at least this algorithm wants to give me content that i will enjoy. twitter is an absolute cesspool of horrible takes, and tbh if elon buying twitter means more people get off twitter, that's probably for the best imo. anybody who will die on the hill of "i am entitled to free speech = i am entitled to say all the slurs and no one is allowed to be upset with me about it" will probably love whatever elon decides to do with it. if that's not you, you already know that leaving twitter would benefit your mental health, and the choice is yours. obviously i am biased and i seriously cannot recommend enough leaving twitter

Why are these people acting like 4-Chan hasn’t existed for years? If they want free speech they can find it in that cesspool

one of my favorite tiktok sounds of the moment is "freedom of speech protects you from the government not me" and i want to say that to everyone who complains about not having free speech

Not really, you can't attack someone legally for words. Different courts will go about it differently based on situations but as a whole you as an individual cannot attack or harass someone for words alone. Atleast in person, you can bug someone online and they'll probably block you but then it comes into question of do you support full free speech or just speech you agree with, 90% of people can't differentiate the two so that's always a mess.

I wish I could be even a tenth as optimistic as you were at the time that you made this. Also, this aged hilariously, since homophobia, transphobia, racism, and death threats are allowed. But saying "cis" or "cisgender" gets you bonked.

Gabi Gate Keepers of Twitter?

i vote we take the upvote/downvote approach where if a tweet gets x amount of downvotes it is automatically deleted.

The aspect I appreciate about 'X' [formerly Twitter] is if you have a _verified account,_ the user can post videos, unhindered, up to an hour's length. Those same videos posted on KZbin would be blocked immediately or quickly hit with a copyright strike. I have an X account and love the latitude it offers with posting videos, unlike the heavily restricted video platform YT has become. With that said, I utilize X differently than what Gabi describes, as I stay on my 'profile' page and only venture to those other X accounts that I am following. When I log-onto X, I immediately go to my profile page to avoid the random tweets being displayed to my face. That way, I avoid seeing the proliferating memes and trending tweets that Gabi spoke about, which I have no inclination to view.

The whole “the law follows what the people want” thing from Elon is hilarious. Like yes in the case of free speech, we want that but don’t try to tell us that the laws follow anything but what the boomers in the government and the 1% want. At least 75% of Americans believe in roe vs wade and that’s still gonna be overturned

A lot of social media is a bit of a cesspool. I'll stick with youtube for my content & discord for connecting with my friends tyvm. I got off social media right around the start of college and just stuck with youtube & IM-based platforms to keep in touch with my friends outside of texting. It's such a breath of fresh air to not be bombarded with nonsense that people post.

Can always tell who is addicted and obsessively online by how dramatic they are about social media apps and posts they see on them. Deleting all of them especially let me see how absurd people act on socials.
