i think that omega bracelets are very good , you get dive extension and micro adjust on the Seamaster professional , but to get that on a rolex you have to get the deep sea , which is my favorite rolex and hope one day to acquire one , yes rolex has more adjustability but the wrist doesn't swell that much so the diver extension on the omega fills in the gap

Walk around my local shopping centre last Saturday which has all the stand alone boutiques and big jewellery shops and they were dead 💀 even the new Rolex Mappin and Web store was quite 😬 the Goldsmiths had all of the new Tudor’s in all the various bracelets and rubber straps including the new monochromatic submariner homage and the new GMT 58 gilt heavy retro Rolex homage thing, and they were dead too. The prices are too high and the product is stale especially Omega. The 0% is mostly gone and no one has got any money. This combined with watch crime has put people right off and it’s going to get worse too. I can see a lot of these places shutting soon. Whenever I walk past one of these places they are filled with staff and no customers.

At the AD I deal with, they're always busy. On Saturdays and Sunday theres a line at the door waiting to get in. The Shopping center where Rolex is located also has several stand alone watch boutiques. I never see people waiting to get in at the other watch boutiques, they're never crowded. There may be a slump in the luxury watch market but hasn't had an effect on Rolex dealers in my area.

Why 'God forbid, a Tag? I used an F1 Tag for eleven years before putting it in its box and replacing it with a 40 mm Explorer. Nothing wrong with theTag, it kept better time than the Rolex and has few signs of wear and I was sad to leave it behind for the idiotic watch snobbery that we all perpetuate.

One thing I would comment is that I think TAG will be relatively unaffected basically they are an aspirational brand for a certain segment of society which I don't think are the same people who aspire to a Rolex. Additionally they will continue to shift huge volumes of their low value quartz models through these boutiques.

I had have a Tag F1 and aspired to an Explorer 40 mm and no noticeable difference in quality other than the Explorer is more boring looking and the clasp sits about 2mm off the link compared to the flush fitting Tag clasp, at the end of the day they are both reasonable quality mass produced watches but at least you can actually buy a Tag at one of their boutiques, as I pass a Rolex AD every day in Brisbane city and the staff always out number the customers by two to none

Even Rolex is on the decline, no body wants to put thousands of $£ into a luxury item, money is hard to earn by those times, especially for us, the middle class. Putting hard earned money in a luxury watch which is going to sit in a safe most of the time is a stupid decision

Oh the middle class is buying nice things, including Rolexes. The problem here is that people were sold a lie about being in the middle class because they have a job, a mortgage and a car. Middle class is your professors, doctors, barristers, business owners, headmasters at pub. schools, small free holders and so on and so forth. So in effect, it’s strange to see people complaining about the decline of the middle class who never came within a mile of being in the middle class. I’m not saying you’re not middle class, I’m just saying that this generalisation that the middle class I broke, is flat out wrong.

Thanks Brendan, a great series of videos. I have been an Omega fanboy since the early 90's. But recently they are just not producing watches I would buy. My last purchase was the OG blue world timer. I would love to buy a GMT the only watch that I could consider is the planet ocean GMT and that's way too thick!! So I might go for the Rolex Explorer 2.

I know dealers are are complaining about all the standalone boutiques all over the place, three big watch stores also tell me (friends of mine) that watch manufactures are limiting which model they can carry, fir example IWC don't want dealers carrying their ceratanium line which is wrong.

The AD I purchased from are great. Go in put a small deposit down to show you are not a time waster given a rough date then pick up watch never far from the date. Don’t know why all AD’S Can’t operate like this.

I really enjoy your videos. I have a 15 year old Seamaster which I love, but I have it in my head that I want a new steel Submariner from an AD. I've been on the list for about a year and I've tried playing the game of popping in for a chat, etc. They recently took me to one side and said I need to "build up my profile" by buying other watches and jewels first. It's such a dirty game. I've grafted hard and saved up the £9k which is in a separate instant access account and ready to go. If you actually look at the watch though, it's not "worth" £9000. It's mental. This fake rarity game messes with your head.

Be interesting to see if the WoS owned Omega 'boutiques' they have tacked on to their stores get closed down. And by interesting I mean great. Inquired about a Bond 60th a while back and was told my spend nextdoor (2 x Rolex, 1 x Tudor, £19k total) wouldn't mean jack. They apparently only counted spend with them. Yet if I bought an Omega it would add to my WoS spend history. They can do one.

They have a supply line direct with the manufacturer, a supply contract and they operate under manufacturer guidelines. Goldsmiths are the official Rolex and Tudor authorised dealer in Nottingham. Berry's and Goldsmiths are both the official Omega authorised dealers in Nottingham. Watches of Switzerland (although it looks like a TAG Heuer owned store) are the official TAG Heuer authorised dealer in Nottingham. They sell watches brand new directly supplied by the manufacturer. Berry's Omega store in Nottingham is listed on the Omega website as an official Omega retailer. They don't sell 2nd hand, they don't sell any other brand. Everything in the shop is direct from Omega. And they do credit. And they have £1000+ off watches on display.

The economy is improving and inflation is dropping so people will have more disposable cash. Furthermore, watch collecting is now a much more mainstream hobby than it was even 5 years ago, say. Whilst the boom is over there will still be plenty of people buying and collecting watches in the future but discounts will be widely available but not on Rolex. Demand is still strong for the crown and that ain’t changing.
