It is rather amusing when I hear the "I'm not your mother" argument from women. Walden was the provider in their marriage & when you think about it, the provider role is more or less like the father role. The father provides finances, shelter, security & stability. Then when a woman gets married the husband takes over that role. So a wife complaining about taking on the nurturing role (kind of like a mother) is so hypocritical because the husband also takes on the provider role (kind of like a father).
