A rarity for Blackpool airport but long overdue as the wireless operators and the gunners all took their training in Blackpool. Very nice footage Dave.

Aaah, not quite all. Montreal, Canada trained a slew of RCAF wireless airgunners before sending them overseas.

This may never happen again as Blackpool Airport have announced that they will be closing on 15th October if they can not find a buyer...A sad day.

There's a Spitfire museum at the airport now, worth a visit - www.spitfiredisplayteam.co.uk/hangar-42/ Sadly the terminal has gone and no more international flights....
