The dumbest thing about the terrible American version of Pyramid Head is by having him be super buff makes the visual of dragging the Great Knife behind him redundant, the original Pyramid Head had a regular build so showing him struggle to drag the Great Knife and to keep his balance with the heavy weight of the pyramid helmet is both realistic and other worldly enough to be extremely unsettling. Also by having super buff Pyramid Head is just plain laughable, like when does he find time to work on his bench press and abdominal development and track his macros and drink his protein shakes? The original has his entire body covered by wearing a weird skin textured burlap sack/butchers apron and his arms are not extremely muscular, but the American version is Arnold Schwarzenegger wearing comically pointy pyramid and dragging a over the top version of the Great Knife with added serrated edges.

I swear, just looking at the color scheme and level design of this game proves that the developers never actually played any of the previous Silent Hill games. I haven't touched SH2 or SH3 in awhile, but I specifically remember splashes of color throughout every new area. I remember SH2's hospital having a ton of green, while SH3 had bright oranges and reds. The grey, greyer, greyest color scheme of this game is an insult to the art design of the previous games in the series.

Not Isaac The devs of any SH need to stop using Pyramid Head. He debuted in SH2 as we all know, as JAMES' monster. His personal tormentor and guilt personified. Ever since that game's success, Pyramid Head appeared in so many games and movies when he wasn't supposed to, that when this came out, they retconned it so that he was just for guilt in general. I actually will give credit to Downpour, which is barely better than this, for its Boogeyman in the raincoat. At least he was meant to be there. Then again, Shattered Memories didn't have it at all, and was able to make its own concepts and mindfucks...That game was good, a masterpiece in comparison to this shite.

It was an entire console generation for casual gamers, they needed him in there so everybody who had only ever seen glimpses of the series could go "Pyramid head, bro! I recognize that! I'M A FAN" and Konami is more than happy to have a wider audience of people giving them money, even if it means compromising what they worked so hard to build. Silent Hill will never mean as much to them as it does to us, its just a finite toothpaste tube of money. Sad.
