Very inspirational! Thanks Lucien! My favorite two box setup would be a Circuit Tracks and a S1.

It's great to see you give the Typhon some love. I remember you posting new gear pics a while ago with a Typhon in it but I never saw you use it till now.

If I had to enter the confession corner (such a channel exits on my discord), I’d have to admit that I snoozed in it! I got one and then o hated the workflow so I let it collect dust. Then I saw Kink do the craziest techno sound on it and I thought to give it a proper spin. I’m hitting myself in the face as we speak 🗣️. It’s awesome
@peterbakker95314 ай бұрын
Cool to see the advanced techniques of the Octatrack in a live situation! Do you also make use of the lfo settings of the Octatrack to sounddesign the Typhon? And do the Typhon receives program changes of the Octatrack?
@AnalogKitchen4 ай бұрын
Yes on the program changes, not yet on the LFOs. That’s next! Thanks 🙏

Pretty close to the basis of my studio+live gig. I have the Digitakt instead of the Octatrack. Love having an Elektron box with the Typhon. I add an S1, TD3, Plinky or Circuit Tracks, depending on my mood/needs, but Typhon & Digi are always the basis.

Very nice video! Inspiring to do some techno sets with less gear. You can use all 16 scenes on slot B by the way, though it's harder to reach one handed.

Another thing with the OT midi tracks you could make them all target the same synth with different sequences, or mix different sequences together.

The only thing I think that is worth adding to a minimalist setup like that is a simple mixing board(if required), and maybe a few SIMPLE effects (reverb/delay, and maybe a flanger tbh. Some synths seem to play really nice with a light flanger touch, in my experience atleast.) If the goal is true minimalism tho, yeah...I have heard alot of seriously good music made on just 1 machine. And not even a super fancy one.
@py_a_thon5 ай бұрын
My bad. That is basically exactly what you setup in a way. (Sorry. I posted a few comments before watching the full video.)

@@AnalogKitchen Never underestimate a slight flange on a sonically dense sound. That can sound so epic. The sound spins in perceived 3D space so epically, imo. Seating it properly in the mix is the difficulty perhaps. Multi-pole phasers are also kinda awesome...yet very difficult to use. Especially live set mode. See: Simon Posford, of Shpongle fame lol. That dude is a master of EQ3 and phasing. Shoutout to recent content from CloZee. She has done some very similar and awesome ideas over the past decade.

If you want to record whilst playing the chromatic keyboard on the Octatrack hold the record button and press play rather than trying to press the two together

Hard to hear, for some but yip, tried and tested the more you keep buying new equipment the more blocks in your way learn to use what you've got plus learning to recreate a drum Sound or percussionist chewibg gum from scratch on your mono bass synth etc. Same with other machines. Limitations can be turned around too help creativity Instead of trying to learn and constantly adding new stuff to learn from scratch unless you feel you need new kit ie central machine or smaller units . Practice, patience and Self Belief !!
