Do you guys grow their BMR corn too?
@rmddairyfarm14263 жыл бұрын
Yes we do. We plant 115 day BMR. We like how the Unify feeds but haven't got the tonnage as the BMR15B. We also plant regular corn that can go either in bunk or high moisture. Hope we get the 115 day corn in the ground soon.
@10thgenerationdairyman3 жыл бұрын
@@rmddairyfarm1426 we have been doing half 15b and half unified. The 115 day does yield a bit better but we really like feeding unified especially early fall because we don't have much carry over.
@rmddairyfarm14263 жыл бұрын
@@10thgenerationdairyman Last year we went right into unified because we were pretty much out of corn silage. Cows did better on the unified then the old feed. This year we should have several months of fermented corn.

Hi love your videos very much. I have been watching a few farm videos on U-Tubs during Covid-19 pandemic. I have been trying to locate your farm with much difficulty. So far this is what I have found. 1) your farm is in Lancaster County, southern part of Pennsylvania. 2) from looking at your videos you have the best looking farm in all of Pennsylvania ( no kidding). Now a little about me, I am retired 78 years old, grew up on a gas station but spent most of my growing up year 5 to 16 year old on our neighbour farm in the fifties, driving teems of horses than a Ferguson tractor during haying time & threshing times. I did not get paid I was to young and loved doing it. I know you probably don’t want anyone know were your farm is but could you give me a hint I love good puzzle. I have found a few farms already Welker Farms, Werner Farms, Larson Farms, Welker Farms, Cole The Corn-Star Farm, SaskDutch Kid Farm & Western Trucks & Tractor workshop and his house. Thanks for listening love to see your location.

every 3-4 years its good practice to at least deep till idk the exact wording or definition. but basically it doesnt disturb the top 2-4 inches. it just breaks up the the ground below that to get rid of compaction. and we done it twice. both times we saw yield increase of 10-20 bushels with beans and corn. i think welker farms did it. in case you still have no idea what im talking about lol.
@10thgenerationdairyman3 жыл бұрын
I've heard of that before, might be worth trying especially years that we harvest in wet conditions.

Just out of curiosity, doesn’t spraying glycosphate defeat a lot of the purpose of no till by killing a lot of the biology in the soil? U were talking about no till in cold areas, if u haven’t heard of him check out Gabe brown in North Dakota...interesting no till on his cattle ranch, pretty crazy results...
@jonlosa25423 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly!
@Nixwasa3 жыл бұрын
I also reacted to this comment. The discussion where i live has been to prohibit the use of glycosphate by law because of cancer fear?! I dont have an opinion on whats right/wrong here, I just think that the wide gap in perception between the american farm community and the northern european media/law makers is very interesting. I think that this transparancy in farming we consumers get from watching you youtube farmers is fantastic! Just so we can see how its done and what type of methods you use in your daily work! I really like your videos, keep up the good work!
@OSGCourtWatch3 жыл бұрын
@@Nixwasa agreed. Fascinating and a great insight to get with technology like utube and guys who don’t jazz it up and show the details like Eric. Has been a gateway for me to wanting to learn about Gabe drown and ways to farm ground not only regeneratively but also very productively. His input costs are negligible
