Two Clans in One Outfit? Gentlemen vs. Ladies edition

Is there a tasteful way to represent two clans at the same time?
Perhaps a tartan Rosette under the kilt pin or one clan’s kilt pin on a different clan’s tartan?
Are the rules of Highland Dress different for men vs. women?
Could a woman wear a tartan sash of their husband’s clan and a rosette of their clan behind the brooch?

The picture you showed was Stewart with Black Watch. Black Watch isn't a Stewart tartan. It's a Sutherland and Argyle tartan.

Related question: if you are part of a clan that is Sept of another Clan, do you just choose which one to wear at a time? Or is there a way to show clan you are sept of while wearing the sept clans tartan?

People get a remember this is not the day and age where we swear fealty allegiance to a clan or a clan chief. In today’s day and age is just about honoring your ancestors. Typically it’s your surname first and then really whatever else you want afterwards. If you don’t have a Scottish surname or one that sounds like it could be, or if it’s your mothers then just celebrate that. Just do one at a time. Stop trying to do everything in one outfit!

I had to choose between two tartans, Paterson and MacLaren. My choice was MacLaren, because traditionally the Patersons are a lowland clan but we are from Inverness and so were septed into the Maclarens (traditionally of Stirling) but in my research I was told that the Patersons of Inverness were out in the 45 with the MacLarens, which made me feel proud. Rocky your comment about the cowboy hat has given me images, in my mind, of a tartan Stetson, Hoss MacCartwright.
