I've been practicing recently with the Fuji 56mm f/1.2 for street. It's not a normal focal length for that kind of photography, but I've found it really interesting as I've been getting much closer to my subjects than normal and filling the frame. It's really produced some interesting shots and helped me to look at subjects from a much more creative perspective and of course the sharpness of that lens is amazing.

I think the bigger message is to experiment with different focal lengths AND different aspect ratios. Sometimes it's a huge plus to use a 1 X 1/square format for an image. I've been thinking about cutting some different aspect ratios(square, 5 x 7, 4 x 5, 16 x 9) in pieces of cardboard and holding them each up in from of me to see how each makes a scene look. I sometimes struggle with making an image in which the finished product looks like I saw it in terms of focal length/field of view. So, I think the cutouts might also help with that. Once I choose a ratio, then I can hold it up and walk forward and backward to see where I want to stand for the image with a given focal length. Not sure it that will be helpful or not!! But, it might be an interesting experiment. Have a great day!! It's snowing in my part of Pennsylvania today. Ughhhhhh..... I wish it would only snow in the grass! LOL! Take care....

Inspiring. I also shoot with the X-T1 (been following you a long time, buying, selling and rebuying your X-T1)😎

I think wide angle, or ultra wide angle lenses are particularly interesting if you get up close to a subject and get creative with the crazy wild falloff.

Oddly enough I went out today, knowing it was dull, armed with a 60mm lens on an old m4/3 body! It was hard but I got some nice shots.

Nice video Chris, the wide angle thing is part of the reason I've decided to use vintage lenses ( 28mm, 50mm and 135mm) on my Fuji XT-1 as it slows me down and makes me consider what I'm trying to photograph!

Love your videos Chris and its great to have you back. One adverse comment though and I see it a lot even from the best of utube Pros. A bit more respect for the gear would be appreciated. Neck straps and wrist straps are a photographers best friends. Dangling a lovely XT-1 on the end of a neck strap a couple of inches above a rocky and muddy path don't seem to be a very good idea to me.

I totally agree with you and it’s certainly not how I treat my own gear, but I guess it’s more important these days, especially on KZbin, for photographers to ‘look cool’ than anything else😎

I currently use 4 lenses (16,27,35,50) on my Pro-2. I gravitate to the 27mm and I figured out that it goes all the way back to when I was a kid with my plastic Kodak file cameras and the fact that the camera with lens fits nicely under my cycling jacket.Ya I cycle a lot. When I want to spend the day shooting I only take one lens and I try to mix it up and force me to look. Ya the camera and lens can also fit in my pannier. I am always surprised by good my high ISO images come out. Thank you

28mm & 40mm are very underrated lenses. I've had Canon 28mm, Several different Nikon 28mm & Sigma Art 28mm...☑️ All are fun & excell in Landscapes & Street & some indoor Photography. •Sigma art 40mm is flawless & super sharp / bright / resolves 50mp.
