Hi and welcome to Cradle Mountain and Lake Saint Claire National Park.
Another bucket list here. Two days of hiking around and up.
DAY 1.Wet and snowing,a walk around Dove Lake,a great way to start the trip here.
Animals everywhere, Echidna,Wombats,Pademelons,Wallabies,and more.
Also today I head to the famous and historic Waldheim Chalet. With the old wooden buildings still in place,Wombats everywhere.
DAY 2.I return to the park on a sunny day,and this time the big one ,up up up ,I head to Marion's lookout which was a climb, but decide to go even further right underneath the'Saddle'of Cradle Mountain. Such a feature and the view is wow.I haven't seen snow for a long time so it really added to the trip.
So enjoy this hike around Cradle Mountain.
Bill

Hi Bill, I just watched this again, it is just a magnetic untouched place. It was lovely to see mum superimposed onto the track, it out things into more perspective. She did pretty well to do a 5 day hike way back then with just a back pack and probably less clear trails to follow! Great work Bill and we'll done for tackling those trails. Xxx

Hi Chris, Cradle Mountain is a magical place,Mum and her friend did really well, with heavy backpacks, less established paths, and no phones, once doing part of it myself I can see why it attracts so many hikers.

Really well maintained trail system, no trash or graffiti. It is rare to see photos from 1957 look close to what it looks today. Very Beautiful up there

That was a super highland trek through the wilderness! Enjoyed watching the mountain and lake scenery along with your responses to what you were seeing. I know how unpredictable the weather can be once you’re above 1000m at a latitude like that. Thanks for sharing these unique high country experiences!

I just came back home (Qld) from a visit to Cradle Mountain National Park. Been there a number of times, donne most of the walks and just fall in love with it every time I go. Love the walks, but haven't done the Overland track. I have left it a bit late as my back troubles mean I couldn't carry the backpack. Can't wait to go there again. Your commentary and footage are great to watch, thankyou!

Hi Judy,Cradle Mountain is worth all the hype I think,I have left some hikes for next time I go,that track under the saddle was pretty rough ,I did the park over two days so had a variety of weather, the snow was great, they opened the new visitors centre at the lake after I left,I hope they don't close any tracks in the future, there is talk about a cable car to a lookout I sure hope not.thanks Bill.

G'day Bill, you're a legend!! What a fantastic effort you put in to see some of the most beautiful scenery in Tassie or anywhere. I really appreciate all the walking in freezing conditions. I was feeling tired just watching you. Brilliant. Those tracks were well maintained and the wire netting would have given you better grip. Have a good rest before your next adventure please. I'm late watching this video, tried just after you posted it, but my WiFi gave up the 👻. Looking forward to seeing your next vlog Bill. Take care. Smokey

HI Smoky,it was a big two days, tiring and worth it,such a different scene between the two different days, wet rain, snow, then sunshine, and to be up in the snow was a real treat. I had only planned to go as far as Marian's lookout but was glad I went even further, it was one of those trips I'll always remember. Until next time take care Bill.

Hello Bill. I hope you're well and in good spirits. This trip must have been very special for you because of your mum's trip in 1957. I'm very glad I watched. Thank you for making and sharing this wonderful experience. :-)

Great effort mate in all those climbs and tracks, well worth the views That Wombat pool would make a great painting. Would have been a great moment up there following the trek of your mum's. You will have to go back and do the Overland track !

Hi Fred,it was a real experience to go up there. There is still more tracks to take ,so one day hopefully I'll get back there. I too have considered wombat pool for a painting it seems too perfect not to.I took several photos with the phone for that reason. Tasmania has so many paintings in the waiting I'll have to dig out the paints.Until next week take care Bill.
