Bill, I love your videos. I've been watching them everyday. I'm here in Northeast Ohio. I saw three bucks this morning. Came in for lunch. Watched your video. Got the juices flowing, especially when you kept saying November 7th is your favorite day. Lo and behold. I killed a fantastic Buck. I was only there 20 minutes he came in with his tongue out to 15 yd. It was awesome. Thanks for all your knowledge!

Thank you so much for this channel! I moved to ND in 2012 from MN and miss my whitetail bowhunting during this time of year. Watching your channel, since it started, has brought me a lot of enjoyment thinking about my past hunts. I love watching how you are molding your property from a farming property into a hunting and habitat property every season. I look forward to every new episode year around!

The wind direction forecast has been so frustrating. I resorted to lighting a tiki torch in my yard and I just watch it for like 10 minutes to verify. This morning I lit it and it went all 360 degrees within a minute. I reluctantly stayed home but I'm headed out for the afternoon after I watch your motivation.

Hey Bill - you mention forgetting your range finder. I know you are sponsored by Exact sites, but my Garmin Xero site has been a game changer. Integrating not only the range finder but, as important, calculating the angle variable when shooting from a treestand. I am NOT sponsored nor work for Garmin. I have lost xero (pun intended 😂) deer in 3 years with none going farther than 45 yards after the shot. I feel so much better with the precise lethal shot. Ask Jared Mills about his Xero😄 Thanks for taking us on your journey

Great info Bill. Your patience and not being overly aggressive is important and seems like a struggle for some. As I get older I tend to leave the calls at home and just sit back and let things play out naturally and put my efforts into getting in and out without disruption.

Hi Bill, my dad and I saw a few nice bucks yesterday November 8th in Central Wisconsin. The only downfall to this spot is that the private land owners shoot gun all day during this time of year and the deer are finicky. Started at 6:45am and was on/off until 3pm. It seems to be a trend every year in this particular patch of woods and I'm sure it's intentional (not wanting bucks to wander into public). Good luck!

Great tip on how close is too close. This morning I had a young but nice buck that I decided to pass on. When he got past me I decided to try to grunt him back to me. He was about 50 yards away from an area he just walked through. He just stood there in the brush for a longtime. Then moved on. Funny thing is I had another nice buck I passed on. 30 minutes after he went thru I blind grunted. That same buck came marching right back to the base of the tree.

I use golden estrous. It covers my scent and attracts the bucks. Taking your advice and hitting it hard Saturday, Sunday. Got a small buck on the cell cam this morning. Taking care of other things instead of hunting, but the priority is shifting to time on stand for the next few days. Been trying blind grunting, but we don't have much success with that in our highly pressured area. Respect the game, honor the tradition. Good luck and hunt safe.

Sad to say EHD has most likely taken a few of the “shooters” I was after this year down here in Southern Iowa. That coupled with the wet and warm weather has really made things “challenging.” Nice to read the comments from others that are finding success so far. Gives me hope. Like you said in one of your last vids, “It’s a marathon, not a sprint.” If your struggling like me, stay positive! I’m feeling good about Bill’s chances. Was lucky enough to take my biggest Wv buck on election day. He had a doe pinned in the corner of a field and repeatedly would run smaller bucks off. The last time he ran a small 8 point off I grunted just loud enough to get his attention and he turned straight towards me. Had it not been really thick like you said I never would have called. He got to 60 yards and turned to go back to the doe so I snort wheezed. This is all it took to really make him mad. He closed the distance and I was able to make a great shot! I feel like every deer is different when calling and some deer look for a fight. This happened to be one of those deer haha. Good luck catching up to the Jordan buck!

I’ve had exceptional luck with a calling tactic I use. When snort wheezing to bucks they often times will look in your direction contemplating what they just heard. While they are looking dead towards me, I will do a very short grunt and immediately followed by an aggressive snort wheeze. From my experience after that second snort wheeze a mature buck will almost always come in so long as you aren’t in the wide open and he knows he should be able to see a buck talking to him. They usually will immediately drop their head and start walking in your direction. Put the call down and get ready, they are coming.

Thanks a bunch Bill for sharing your thoughts and observations on calling. In my opinion, it's a bit science mixed with a little art. I've had nice bucks respond in many different ways to various grunts, snort wheezes, bleats, rattling, etc. Timing is everything and recognizing a deer's personality and tendencies are critical. Best of luck tomorrow and by the way, November 7th and 11th have been my very best days to kill big bucks over the years. Knock down a big one!

Hi Bill, I have a question on blind calling. Where I live there's lots of public land with fairly low deer densities. There's wolves and other predators and some hunting pressure. Do you think walking along with one of my kids blind calling would be worth the effort? The caller could go upwind and the shooter could try to shoot any buck that circles down wind. I see elk hunters use this tactic on tv but never really seen it for whitetail. Or would it be more effective to just sit on stand this time of year?

Lee, I know guys that have had success with the bleat. I haven't used that call. I don't like carrying stuff if I can help it and I think I can get everything I need from a grunt call and the snort-wheeze. I don't even carry antlers. I know that might limit my ability to pull some bucks, but truthfully, I have been able to call in most of the bucks that I think should be callable. Good luck.

Did you recognize the buck when he came through?
@xtramileoutdoorsfishinggui358522 күн бұрын
You've hunted long enough to know the rut Is not a sprint. I've found that sometimes it's easier to catch up with that special buck the week before or of Thanksgiving. They seem to cruise desperately again. Most of all I've noticed that they are way less attentive. They become so exhausted from the rut. Weeks without rest, fighting, chasing, and everything else that they endure. I've had them cruise mid day around doe thickets completely clueless. Some of my biggest bucks have come this way. They become so vulnerable. I can remember one buck like that, he came through looking like a zombie. So exhausted eyes closed and walking stiff. He passed right down wind of me and didn't pay any mind to my scent that I know he had to have detected. Then he hit a shooting lane and now he is on the wall. Where I've been doing well lately is down wind sides of doe thickets that have been around a long time. Ones that bucks historically know. A new property I hunt was logged two years ago and will be amazing but the bucks just don't seem to have the generational recognition of that being a old school reliable rut haunt. So I've concentrated on thickets that were created 20 or 30 years ago from logging projects. It's where I've seen my biggest deer this week. I passed 14 bucks on one small thick last Saturday. 6 of which were in the 150 ball park. I'm down to my statewide tag and holding out for something special. That property, the changes you've made are all very young yet. It's a tough situation but you are goat status bill! Keep hunting don't be discouraged. Remember to have self confidence and trust your instincts pal!!!!! Thanks for the content.
