I strongly suspect the child did something to the kittens that caused the mother to attack him. Earlier on this evening, I saw another video where a toddler was hitting the family cat. It was just a game to the child, but the cat didn't like being hit, and so it hit him back, and got shouted at for trying to defend itself. Now, to be fair, the little boy might not have been doing anything to hurt the kittens, but kittens that young will cry when they are picked up, and Mama cat may have mistaken the sounds to mean they were being hurt, and she went in to defend them. I do think the boy's father over-reacted, though- the child's injury was barely visible, and I've received worse scratches just from playing with cats. Besides, Mama cat wasn't just hostile, she was terrified, so there was far more to this story than was being told!
