This game felt exactly like the book "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair. Lithuanian immigrants came to America to work in factories - some in meatpacking, making goods from the meat, fats, skins, etc. The horrors and disgusting conditions of the work, and houses told in the story were also highlighted. I wonder if it was inspired by the book

I both really love and hate the fact they're both such sweet and charming characters because on one hand it's nice to watch them interact, trying their best to stay positive even in such a cold, dead and disgusting environment but on the other hand it means one of them is probably gonna die soon or they're both going to get traumatized beyond belief

I don't know if they've ever lost someone either, but they really really capture it ... life .. just keeps on moving with or without you.

@@PanicLedisko ahh such a kind comment I’ll let them know!! And yes haha, it was a (very) rushed research project for school. I remember they pulled a few all nighters making this game. It was their first game ever, and super short, but rest assured they are definitely making more rpgmaker games!!! They have plans for several bigger projects which they are making for fun/during their free time, though I’m not sure how far away their releases will be. I’m so proud of them, it’s amazing that their first ever project has blown up like this 😭😭😭😭

It's a sad story, but despite what the ending text says I do think it's ultimately good that they stayed in touch. Their friendship through the daily grind and the rough times that come with it were no doubt lessened by having a friend alongside you.

_Grief is a good basis for horror_ Unique choices of setting and era for a tragic friendship story. Life was hard and still is when expectaions are not equal to reality. I have to assume the dev was inspired by _The Jungle._ It depicted the sorrows and hardships of the time and working conditions of the stockyards. Tho it's all been closed for years, physical remnants of that time remain, as well as the rich ethnic diversity of the people.

All aboard the depresso expresso! I didn't know anything about that time period and area in America, but they set the scene pretty well. The pacing of the end was a bit rushed, but they told the story they wanted and didn't outstay their welcome. They could have gone way more into the blood and meat imagery and had the surviving friend fall into meat depression; the choice not to is fine too. That stuff is pretty played out.

baths came earlier of course, but showers didn't become widespread in homes (in US homes at least), until around the 1930s. But showers did exist in essentially their modern form since the late 1700s, and in the time I assume this is set (early 1900s, since it seems to be based on a 1906 novel "The Jungle") public bathhouses existed that had some showers.
