One of the biggest job for me so far! Homeowner had som concern that the trees was leaning more and more during the years. They also stood very tall and took all the wind.
All worked out great but it was alot of work removing all limbs and bucking the wood!

Nice, precise, professional work Pat. Your saws are kicking butt, obviously sharp chains. Nice shots on the tops too. The feeling of a big top coming off the stem is pretty incredible.

Good job PK, Douglas Fir cut a little different from the spuce and pine, not as "soft" as some folk think. Like the leash on one of the stems to stop it rolling to far !

Thanks alot! Yeah I really like how Douglas is like cutting! Yeah I was worried that the log would risk to slide down with the heavy butt towards the house :) Seemed to do some good!

Great Job brother, What a beautiful sight it is to watch this caliber of work... Loved the music, would have been cool to hear the saw at a slightly lower volume while the music still played though... Just sayin... I'm super pumped now just from watching this awesome video... Got me a big Maple scheduled for tomorow can't freaking wait...

Why not climb up in the first place, tie in, and repel down. The start from the bottom up. that way your of your hooks, and kick out and do the other tree at the same time?

Just bought my first top handle, it's a T435xp! Was very temping to just go ahead with the T540 tho! This early in my climbing career I figured it was smarter to just start out with a 435🤘 great vid pat!
@patkarlsson
@patkarlsson 6 жыл бұрын
Nice! How do you like the t435? Here in Sweden they actually dont differ much in price so all use the 540
@bighern7610

patkarlsson damn that's great! Here in US they are about $300 difference! But I LOVE IT! It's so much more comfy to use then a back handle saw which is what I did my first few climbs with so it's a lot better then having to work around a back handle all the time!

Much to learn, thank you. One question about 3:15 please. Why are you have removed the thick stem first and not the thinner one (during you are secured in the thicker one)? I rate me as a novice and I would act in the opposite order. Where is my mistake?
@patkarlsson
@patkarlsson 6 жыл бұрын
Hello! Its nice to have a good Tie in point and that tree was higher than the other one. Then I can still be tied in to the high tree when bucking down the other one and then swing back to the thinner one. And if I had done it the other way around I would still have the top left from the smaller trees and risking the top smashing in too it when felling the top. But it could have been felled in the other way around aswell

Out of curiosity, why do you cut all of the branches flush with the trunk? surely its more comfortable and safer to have small foot pegs and not risk the spikes slipping out. I understand that its easier with your flip line though.
@patkarlsson
@patkarlsson 6 жыл бұрын
There are several reasons. The main reason is that if I slip I dont want anything sticking out from the trunk that can pierce/cut me. And branches have a tendency to get stuck on "pegs" and create a hazard for the people on the ground with loose hanging branches that can fall with no warning. Specially when rigging branches and lines get tangled alot with pegs. Standing on pegs can be good when the diameter of the trunk is small but then the branches usually are small and not really good for supporting my weight. But sure I use it sometimes
