Sad considering that Antonio died alone and depressed...u can see from one episode where Gennaro talks about how lonely Antonio is and Antonio speaking about how he’s envious of Gennaro and his large family and many children and how resigned to the fact that he’ll probably die alone. It’s quite heartbreaking.

Completely agree. It really saddens me to think how unhappy Antonio was, but then...it also made him so relatable. He tried to kill himself with a kitchen knife 15 years ago. What kind of anguish and pain must one be living through to attempt suicide with a kitchen knife.

G'day Rogier, Thank you so much for uploading these wonderful lessons on food, wine, love and life. It is so sad to have lost Antonio. I think he and Gennaro became quite close over the filming of this series. You could see the mutual respect between these two, basically, opposites. Reflecting the wide diversity of Italian cuisine styles and methods, these two great gentlemen taught me so much, even after my 40-year love affair cooking Italian food. I've cooked my way through the book of this series and now having access to their hugely popular TV shows is a fantastic bonus. Of course, I've subscribed. Grazzi! BH
