Happy Tuesday everyone! After some what of deep videos, we are back being our goofy selves and discovering how this train works. Who knew you got free meals when you booked a first class ticket? I guess we should've brushed up on our train vocabulary because we didn't know a lot about what people were saying. We finally learned the word, porter. Next time, we will be pros :) I'd like to thank you all for the sweet comments you gave on our last video. They mean a lot. Have a great week ahead and see you all next work or for some of you, over on Patreon.

Your giving a voice to so many who live in fear and darkness of not being loved or understood. Hey Gaspard and thanks so much for sharing with us who you are. Remember, we are twice your age. When I was 15, I was being told who to be. You will grow and you will decide what you want in life. We can't really tell you what to do because we don't know your cultural situation, how it is with your family, etc. What we want you to know that you can be happy and in love with a man. It's 100% possible. I (Adam writing) am proof that love is real. It took us a long time to get to where we are today and that came some pain and of course disagreements Bernardo and I have. If you ever need anything, we are here for you. We believe in you and are proud of who you are. Love you.

Like many have said at 15, there's no real rush to come out. It's better and, I believe, much wiser to create a safe space BEFORE you come out. Test your classmates asking them questions if they are okay with gay people. Do you have a teacher at school who will support you? How about your parents, do you know if they're okay with gay people? Do you have uncles and/or aunts who will support you? Is there a club in school where gay and straight students hang out? If the answer is "No" to even one of these cases, then it's wiser to wait a few years, and in the worst case scenario, it's much better to wait until you are financially independent before you come out. For now, you have KZbin and Adam & Bernardo who will share their gay adventure with you. ;-)

This reminds me of a trip with my partner on the Washington-Florida AutoTrain. We spent most of the time in the lounge car rather than the tiny room. One advantage: the beds were already converted when we returned to the cabin in the evening. I took the top bunk (no space to sit up), and it was the only time in my life I had a claustrophobic panic attack. Spent several hours calming down in the lounge car to before I could return to bed. Oherwise, it was a fun (one-time) experience... enjoyed the dining service, too.

Derek, they are small but they did have a larger room which we should've bought.

You don't spend a lot of time on the room. There are comfortable club cars with observation levels. Some chairs swivel and recline slightly, tables to work at or use laptops or play cards, have drinks and chat with other travelers etc. You only need to be in your room to sleep and you don't do 2 in one bunk that is smaller than a twin.

It’s a shame you didn’t know about the free food and beverages on the train. We travel to NYC often via first class on the Amtrak Acela and we love it. Also, the sleeper cars from Boston to Chicago seem bigger too. I think it’s great that you two keep exploring new things. One thing that I thought of for you two for a longer trip in the future would be to rent an RV and travel to the National Parks out west. I bet you’d love to do that. You are free to travel when you want, go where you want, and actually live in nature in your own miniature living quarters. We love traveling like that. Plus, we get to bring our dogs with us.
@Stepsof2Foreigners5 жыл бұрын
Hey Ken. Are the trains better on the East Coast? My dad used to work on a train and loves them. We do too! We will go on another one for sure. The RV idea: we've thought about it but my stress levels would go THROUGH THE ROOF with an RV. Haha.
@kenc10005 жыл бұрын
Stepsof2Foreigners Hey Adam! I know the Acela is better because it’s high speed and nicer than the regular route trains. I think Amtrak probably keeps better stock here just because we have such a high population here in the Northeast. Don’t forget, it’s only occasionally better to fly from one city to another between Washington and Boston than taking the train! Don’t stress about the RV thing. You can get a Class C which is as easy to drive as the pickup you rented for the 4th of July weekend at the coast. Hooking up is very easy and you can plan your trip in advance with reservations at RV parks and stops on the road along the way. No stress! I’d be more than happy to help you plan that adventure. If you decide to do it, just hit me up! I’d love to help. One of the best vacations we ever had was our road trip from Rhode Island to Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton and the Black Hills (Mt. Rushmore) in South Dakota. We got to explore so much of the country that we wouldn’t have been able to experience if we had flown or taken the train.

@@Stepsof2Foreigners Trains east of Chicago run different types of cars - Viewliners. Viewliner sleepers have only one level but each bunk has a window. Superliner cars run west of Chicago. They have two levels.

You're lucky that you got help with the beds. When I traveled from L.A. to Austin, the service was bad. No announcements for turn down and I never saw any attendants come by the entire trip. I just wound up folding the seats down and wrapping a t-shirt around my backpack for a pillow. I also know what you mean about it being designed for thinner people. I know now what I should be getting for my money so the next time, things will be different...along with a bigger cabin. :)
