I bought a two handed great sword from Cold Steel last month and carry it everywhere I go. One day, I got into a parking dispute with some guy and he ended up grabbing me and throwing me onto the ground in anger. In response, I gave a furious warcry as I took out my greatsword and carved him into tiny pieces! I had never felt more masculine in my life and if not for the greatsword, I may have had to walk away from that encounter feeling slightly wronged. All I can say is, thanks Cold Steel! Real sword users will enjoy the entertainment. I mean, everything is perfect. The sword itself, the testers, their comments, their stances... And those tests ! Did you knew that in medieval times, pull ups were indeed a great way to test a sword ? And when sieging a castle you sometimes had to break it, cinderblock by cinderblock with your sword. After that, for the feast, you had to cut through a whole pig to prove yourself worthy of sustenance. And maybe, in jousting tournaments, your opponent was Sir Big-Bucket-Full-Of-Colored-Water. You never know... Hell, even the targets practice are funny. "That's what a greatsword is all about". 10/10

I think these in particular only existed for a relatively short time and were never very popular. they're a weird choice of weapon because they make shield use impossible while having less reach than a spear or halberd. I think there were german mercenaries who used two-handed swords somewhat commonly, but probably in aignificant part because they were sbow-offs who wanted to stand out to gain infamy, demand higher wages, and perhaps even cause more enemies to surrender, which would mean that they would be hired without even having to fight. they also dressed real flashy, similar to what the vatican's swiss guard still wears.

Pretty much anything that could stab was used to kill horses. but like you said, horses are valuable, so you should aim for the rider instead of the animal and then, once you win the battle you get a bunch of free horses for your army.

As a competitive swordsman the great sword is a fantastic weapon for relentless attacks. Using the the momentum from any kind of horizontal strike combine with the weight, you can almost always deliver follow up strikes. I think the best example of this being used is from 3:29 - 3:38 .

Because it takes a lot of energy to stop your movement after a heavy attack. But a major problem I have had at competitions is getting caught with the blade pointed down, as said it is a heavy sword, and trying to backhand swing in panic usually results in you loosing your balance.

That depends ENTIRELY on ones own preference. I personally hate the R2 attack of the Greatsword because it's too slow, compared to the Zweihander R2 which is the fastest R2 of all Ultra Greatswords, and it also does huge poise damage and smashes most enemies to the ground. However, they are in fact identical damage and scaling wise, the only real difference between the two are the stat requirements and weight, in which the Zweihander is superior. I want to thank Cold Steel for these tremendous practical self defence weapons. I was at the pub last Friday sipping on a Budweiser when a man laughed at my beard and made unwholesome comments about my wife. Within seconds I'd taken the Greatsword out of the scabbard mounted to my back (it's very heavy but I like to have quick access) and I sliced his feet off with one swing. Of course his mates leapt to the fray with their longswords and axes, but they were no match for the efficiency and majesty of the greatsword.
